Letter from the Principal
Hello Grantham Parents!
Happy New Year! We are excited to kick off the new year with a renewed focus on student learning and achievement! It is important that students come to school prepared EACH and EVERY day! Every single day matters in middle school. All students should have a district Chromebook checked out to them. Aldine is a 1:1 district, meaning every student has access to a Chromebook. Parents must sign out the Chromebook for students, so if you haven't already checked a Chromebook out for your child, please come to the front office and check one out. Chromebooks are used in classrooms daily and we want to maximize our student's learning opportunities. We also want to continue our focus on Learning Recovery (due to the pandemic) for all of our students and encourage student participation in programs such as after school tutorials and INOV8. The second semester has many opportunities for students to participate in testing. Some tests are achievement based, and some are designed to help educators know where your students are in their learning, and what areas need to have an increased focus to help prepare them to be successful at the end of year assessments needed for promotion. Please encourage your students to take these tests seriously and to give it their best effort. In this newsletter you will find a schedule of the upcoming tests for students.
Finally, just a reminder to talk with your student about following COVID protocols to help fight the COVID pandemic: specifically , every student and anyone on Aldine property must wear a mask at all times. Please ensure that your child understands the importance of wearing a mask, washing hands frequently with soap and water, and watching your distance with others as much as possible.
Respectfully,
Ivan Hepworth
