South Lexington Curriculum Night

We are excited to announce that we will have our first curriculum night on February 23 from 6:00-7:00. Curriculum night will be a time to experience different key skills your child is learning during the school day. We will also provide some activities you can do at home that will support pre-reading skills that your student will be assessed on at the end of the year and moving into first grade.

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.

Help Prevent the Spread of Germs

With the weather's ups and downs, we have experienced lots of germs circulating in an around school. If your child is sick, they need to stay at home and not spread germs to their friends. We encourage all parents to wash their children's coats and lunch boxes regularly.

Just a reminder:

  • If your child has a fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, they cannot return to school until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
  • If your child has lice (live bugs), the student must be treated for lice before returning to school, and parents must bring them in for a head check when they return to school.
  • With allergy season, please help your child practice blowing their nose at home.
  • Water is vital to our health and well-being, and lack of water can impact a child's ability to perform to his/her full potential.

Media Minutes

We have many new books that will be on display in the Media Center to check out for students and staff. In the next couple weeks, students will be learning how to use Sketching School on their iPads. After learning, students can illustrate a setting in a story using sketching school and record their voice telling about the picture they created.

Bee's with a Beat

In Mrs. Franks' music classes, we continue to study opposites in music. Loud and soft, fast and slow, and high and low pitches. Did you know music can help us with our feelings and emotions?
