Principal's Corner
Dear Indian Prairie Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you in good spirits, despite the wet and rainy weather. This Friday, we are excited to host our Trunk or Treat event, a delightful gathering that our Indian Prairie family has thoroughly enjoyed in the past.
Please ensure that your child is accompanied by an adult for this fun-filled family event. If you have not yet signed up to participate in decorating your vehicle or donating candy for the occasion, we encourage you to click on the link below to lend your support.
For those who wish to donate candy, you are welcome to drop it off at the office. Thank you for your participation, and we look forward to celebrating together!
Warm regards,
Ms. Tammo Nelson
Principal, Indian Prairie
Attendance Matters
It is essential for students to be present and engaged in school for the entire day whenever possible. We recognize that exceptions may arise due to illnesses or other extenuating circumstances. However, we have observed an increase in early pick-ups and last-minute changes to dismissal plans.
If you need to pick up your child early or modify their dismissal procedure, we kindly ask that you call the office before 3:30 PM. This practice helps minimize disruptions as teachers conclude their day with all students and may not always be available to check emails or ClassDojo.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring a smoother dismissal process for everyone involved.
Ist graders Visit to Gull Meadows
Our first graders had the opportunity to visit Gull Meadow Farms. This trip will included a talk with a farm hand about the lifecycle of apple trees and pumpkins, as well as their needs to survive, which cooincides with the first grade science unit on plant and animal defenses and survival.
Head Lice
As we approach the time of year when head lice occurrences tend to rise, I strongly encourage you to periodically examine your child's scalp and hair. Ensuring that their hair is clean and healthy can help prevent infestations and promote overall well-being. Taking these proactive steps not only contributes to your child's hygiene but also fosters a healthier environment for all.
It is crucial to emphasize the importance of not sharing personal items such as hair accessories, hats, combs, and similar items. Sharing these items can lead to the transmission of head lice and other infections, as lice can easily transfer from one person to another through direct contact with contaminated objects.
To help mitigate this risk, it may be beneficial to purchase your child their own set of headphones to use and keep at school. By doing so, you can ensure that they have access to their own personal items, reducing the likelihood of sharing and the potential for transferring lice or other pathogens.
Pizza is Coming Soon!
Ready for pizza?! Indian Prairie Elementary has partnered with Little Caesars® to help us raise money! We will earn $6 profit on every item sold! Our fundraiser starts on October 6th! Your child will come home with a flyer with instructions on how to join the fundraiser and start selling.
All Pizza Kits, Bread Kits, Cookie Dough, and Bundles will shipdirectly to you or your supporters via FedEx. Prefer hot pizza instead? Try a Meal Deal Code and redeem it later through the Little Caesars app or website for pickup at any Little Caesars restaurant across the country.
