Scott Middle School's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening In Mrs. Carlson's Classroom?
Picture Day Today- September 29th
Classroom Diagnostic Testing
Our students have been diligently working on Fall benchmark testing. (Acadience, IXL and CDT) Teachers use these tests to see exactly where students are achieving so they can meet them where they are and create engaging lessons.
Throughout the year, students work on IXL to support and enrich their learning. That online intervention program responds to students' correct answers and continues to challenge their growth.
Benchmark testing happens again in the Winter and teachers share growth with the students and we celebrate it as a school.
Thank you for reminding your students to do their best so the assessments are a true picture of their ability.
Welcome Mr. Henry, Our Dean of Students
I would like to officially announce some exciting news regarding our school leadership. Mr. Henry, who has been a 6th grade ELA teacher, will be transitioning into a new role as the Dean of Students at Scott Middle School. Mrs. Spears has been working with Mr. Henry in his classroom, to provide a smooth transition for our 6th grade ELA students. Mr. Henry is eager to begin his new position and is committed to ensuring a positive and supportive environment for all students at Scott Middle School. We are excited to have him on board as our first Dean of Students. Mr. Matt Ortega will hopefully be joining us later this year. Both gentlemen will be working to support our students and staff as we focus on attaining a positive and safe academic environment.
Reminder of Expectations at School
Mrs. Lamothe and Mr. Altland will be holding team meetings this week with each grade level to reflect on the first month of school, celebrate successes, and review expectations for moving forward.
For the most part, students have done a good job following the cell phone expectation of "off and away the entire day." Teachers have been pleased with classwork and homework completion, and students are earning ROCKStar points to spend weekly at our school store.
As we look to improve, topics discussed will be: taking the most direct route to the next class (not the long way), keeping hands to ourselves, using appropriate language, using bathrooms correctly, eating in the cafeteria only, and talking not yelling.
Thank you for taking the time to speak with your student this week about following school expectations.
Spending Time Outside During Lunch
We have started taking 1 table to our courtyard behind the library during lunch when we can. Tables that are staying seated, talking quietly, and keeping their areas clean are being rewarded with this time outside to eat and play during lunch.

Principal's Report:
Per Mrs. Lamothe great start to the school year. Students are doing well with not being on the cell phones. Lunches and dismissal are loud. Great feedback on back to school night. Building looks great and welcoming with the improvements that have been going on. Lots of rumors and gossip going on between the kids- please continue to talk to your students about staying out of "drama".
WIN schedule same for each day across all grades.
Our next PTO meeting will be on zoom and in person on Tuesday 10/14/25 at 5:30pm.
