A Message from Ms. Peterson
Hello MCP3 Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed their long Labor Day Weekend! The weather was great and the additional day off was well deserved for us all. Here are some important updates and reminders.
This week teachers will begin to administer the Beginning of the Year Benchmark assessment to scholars. This assessment is done one on one with scholars to get a baseline of various skills and concepts that your child may or may not know yet. Some of the skills and concepts we check for are colors, shapes, numbers, letters, patterns, self-care zip/button/snap, etc. The information gathered helps teachers provide intentional support for your scholar moving forward. The assessment will be given again in winter and then at the end of the year to see the growth our scholars have made! The Benchmark Assessment data will be reviewed with you during our first mandatory parent teacher conferences at the end of Quarter 1. If you have questions about the assessment, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or to me.
Quarter 1 Progress Reports
The first Q1 Progress Reports will be sent home in your child's folder. As part of supporting our scholars to transition strong to our MCP3 program- we have identified focus standards under specific learning domains that closely monitor each child's progress during the first few weeks of our program. Focus Standards are the most critical skills scholars are required to demonstrate progress in early in the year, as these lay the foundation to all other learning that is to come. They include: Approaches to Learning, Social-Emotional, Health & Self-care, and Language skills. Progress reports allow teachers to closely monitor and communicate with you how your child is doing independently demonstrating our focus standards and the goal is that scholars are demonstrating that they are "Developing" and/or "Secure" in all of the focus standards by the end of Quarter 1.
Staff use the following Grade Mark Legend:
S= Secure. Indicates the scholar meets grade-level standard or expectation and has mastered this skill independently.
D= Developing. Indicates that the scholar is developing towards and progressing towards the grade-level standard or expectation.
B= Beginning. Indicates the scholar has minimal understanding and requires significant support with this standard/expectation.
**See Image Below for more details of the Grade Mark Legend descriptions.
Potty Training Policy
Thank you for your continued support with our potty training policy. Scholars should have a full uniform here on hand to be able to change scholars right away. If you have received any "MCP3 Loaner" uniform items- please return them ASAP to our office. Potty training Monitoring letters and Potty Training Enrollment Letters were sent home on Friday to any scholars that have had occasional or frequent accidents in the first week and a half of school. Follow up with all of those families will be on Friday of this week.
Bathroom Etiquette
At MCP3, scholars are expected to utilize the bathroom independently. With that independence comes teaching scholars bathroom expectations and etiquette. Teachers have been working in their classrooms to explain bathroom rules and monitor scholars as much as possible to ensure health and safety standards are being upheld while utilizing the bathroom. Below are the Bathroom Rules- please reinforce the following with your scholar at home:
-Knock on the door when closed
-Toilet seat up (for boys who are standing to urinate- aim for the water), Toilet seat down (for girls and for a bowel movement)
-Wipe & flush
-Wash Hands (1 pump of soap/1 paper towel to dry)
-Ask for help when needed
Bathroom sink is NOT for drinking and bathroom is NOT a place to play around. Scholars should focus on using the bathroom safely and returning to the group.
Aftercare
Our aftercare program is full. Any families in need of aftercare at this time will still need to fill out registration paperwork and will go on our wait list.
Billing Questions
Please reach out to our Office Manager Ms. Perine by emailing cassandra.perine@mkeprep.com or calling our office 414-264-6007 with any questions or concerns related to your payment or enrollment.
Our MCP3 payment policy states that payment must be made in advance of services. Be sure to make your payment on time so that your scholar's seat remains in good standing with our program.
With Love and Respect,
Ms. Peterson
