Great Schools Website
The Great Schools website provides school profiles, data, and a rating system for schools. The site is referenced despite fairness concerns with its rating system. I have claimed Steindorf as the school's principal on the website. What do you think its readers should know about Steindorf? Contibute to my content by using this short Google Form. Feel free to add your own review on the site as well.

No Dropping Off/Picking Up Students in Target's Back Parking Lot
Help Promote Safety & Be Good Neighbors
We have been specifically asked by Target's Security Manager NOT to drop off or pick up students in the Target back parking lot due to concern over safety risks. Let's be good neighbors and prevent injuries or vehicle damages. Steindorf families are welcome to use Target's front parking lot instead.
Congratulations to Steindorf's Good Apples
Thank You, Ellen Lee and Joe Silveria!
At last night's district board meeting, Steindorf parent Ellen Lee and former City employee Joe Silveria were honored with Good Apple Awards. Both last year and already this year, Ellen and Joe enthusiastically take it upon themselves to voluntarily help manage morning traffic at the school's exit and at the Foxworthy and Ross intersection to maintain both safety and efficiency. We are so grateful for their selfless caring and initiative for the sake of our school community!
Next Week is Schoolwide Colors Week

Wait Until End of 8th Grade for Smartphones
CSD Board & Parents Say Yes to Waiting for the Smartphone
The "Wait Until 8th" pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the END of 8th grade. Let’s protect the elementary and middle school years from the distractions and the dangers of a smartphone. Banding together helps decrease the pressure to have a phone at an early age. Read more about it here and see the CSD Board's Resolution below. (Wait Until 9th website) Wait Until 8th
Attendance Update
Here at school, we enjoy seeing all of our students' smiling faces everyday and we know that children sometimes need to stay home from school because they are not feeling well.
In Cambrian, Children should STAY HOME if he/she is ill or if any of the following symptoms are present. If your child becomes ill while at school and exhibits any of the following symptoms your child will need to go home.
- FEVER – any temperature over 100 degrees. Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
- GREENISH NOSE DISCHARGE AND/OR CHRONIC COUGH – please take your child to your health care provider for treatment
- SORE THROAT – especially with fever, rash or swollen glands in the neck.
- DIARRHEA – 3 or more watery stools in a 24 hour period, especially if the child acts or looks ill.
- VOMITING – more than once in 24 hours.
- RASH – especially with fever or itching.
- EAR PAIN OR DISCOMFORT – especially with other symptoms
- BEHAVIOR AND/OR APPEARANCE - pale, lack of appetite, unusually tired, sleepy, confused or irritable
- EYES - thick white or yellow discharge from the eyes, matted eyelids, swelling or redness.
We encourage families to make school attendance a priority and to send students to school every day they are healthy and able to attend. Even a few missed days can add up over time, and frequent absences can make it harder for students to keep up academically and feel connected to their classroom community.
Thank you for partnering with us to make sure our students are here, learning, growing, and thriving every day!
📸 Picture Day is Coming!! Tuesday, September 22nd
Picture Day Envelopes should be coming home from Classroom Teachers this week.

No LUNCH/DRINK Deliveries
In Effect as of Monday, 8/31/26
In addition to having breakfast at home before school and the food students bring to school for the day, Steindorf provides complimentary breakfast at snack time and lunch at lunch time. We will no longer accept food, drink, or water bottle deliveries for students during the school day, including those brought by delivery services or brought by friends or family members. This will help us follow the rule to prevent the sharing of food due to allergies and cultural practices while also preventing distractions during the instructional day. Thank you for helping us to foster the same life skills of planning, responsibility, problem solving, and independence that we instill in all other aspects of school to prepare students for life.
Volunteer Clearance Requirements
📢CEF Volunteer Support Fund 📢
Open the Door to More Volunteers
Volunteers make our schools stronger. They support classrooms, field trips, student activities, and school programs—and students benefit when parents and community members can be involved.
The new volunteer clearance process includes a $77 fingerprinting cost, which can be a barrier for some families.
Help Remove the Barrier
Cambrian Educational Foundation (CEF) has launched the Volunteer Support Fund with an initial $3,000 investment to help provide financial assistance for required fingerprinting.
Your donation can help multiply that impact by helping more parents and community members become cleared volunteers.
To direct your donation to this fund, visit www.cambrianef.org/giving
Under “Please direct my support to:” select “Volunteer Support Fund” from the dropdown menu.

Importance of Home & School Club (HSC)
Our Version of PTA
Every Steindorf family is a member of the HSC!
Steindorf is a public school. Funding is determined by government entities that focus on safety, academics, payroll, and facilities. The costs of what Steindorf provides students are not covered by the school budget alone.
What Does the HSC Do?
Steindorf’s HSC funds additional programs and services not afforded by the school’s annual budget.
The HSC organizes and staffs community-building events for the school.
Every Family is Asked to Contribute $450 Annually to HSC!
That translates to $2.50 per school day! Every little bit helps to provide vital programs and events, such as those listed below, to maintain our thriving school community.

🚶🏻‍♂️ First Monthly Walk and Roll to School Day, Weds. 9/9🚶🏻‍♀️
Please join us Wednesday (Sept 9th) for our first Monthly Walk and Roll to School day as we prepare for the National walk/bike to school day next month!
Walking/Rolling to school has so many benefits:
It's a low effort way to start the day on an active note
Your student will arrive at school awake, relaxed and ready to learn
Reduces CO2 emissions and improves air quality around the school
Reduced traffic on the roads and in our parking lot .. and many more
If you live too far from the school to walk/bike, parking in the Target customer parking lot and walking to school also counts.
As usual, we will use https://www.scantoschool.com/ to track participation! All participants will be entered in a raffle for a couple of exciting gift cards. Raffle winners to be announced in the next assembly.
Your child should have received a tag with their QR code this week (Please reach out to your class teacher if you haven’t). For parents new to Steindorf, this is a safe website vetted by the School district and we use it to anonymously track participation using student numbers.
Parents have an option to register and receive notifications when your student is scanned upon arriving at the school. For any questions, feel free to reach out to steindorf.walkandroll@gmail.com.
