Over 20 New Scholarships Added!

We just added over 20 new scholarships to the 2023 Harrison Scholarship Spreadsheet. Most are from the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation and can be found on their website. Detailed instructions on how to apply can be found here, but here are the basics:

  1. Print the Student Review sheet and fill in the information for each scholarship to which you're applying
  2. Gather all of the required information for the scholarships to which you're applying. Creating a Google Doc with your name, address, DOB, SSN, GPA, and other common info will allow you to copy and paste!
  3. Create an account or log in to your previous account (e.g., if you applied for the Lilly)
  4. Enter in the code for the scholarship to which you're applying. The code for most is vcf, but there are some others, so check carefully.
  5. Choose the scholarship from the list and click "apply".
  6. Fill in/upload the information that is requested for that scholarship.
  7. Click "Submit Application" when you have completed all steps.

Some other things to note:

  • The deadline for most of the VCF Scholarships is January 31, 2023. No late applications will be accepted.
  • Once you have completed one application, you will be able to copy most of the demographic information over to other applications from VCF.
  • If you need to finish later, be sure to click "Save Application" before you exit to save your progress!
  • Some require that you have completed the FAFSA before applying, so make sure you have done so if you haven't already.
  • Most require letters of recommendation - don't wait until the last minute to ask your writers!

The FAFSA Application is Open!

The application for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is open as of October 1st. Completing the FAFSA not only determines the amount of federal aid you will receive, it also determines your eligibility for aid from the State of Indiana and other institutions. Most universities, colleges, and trade schools will want you to have the FAFSA completed before they can tell you how much aid they will offer you, so we strongly recommend that everyone fill it out. Here is a checklist that will lists all of the documents you will need to have in order to complete the application.

Here are the deadlines for Indiana:

  • October 1, 2022 - FAFSA Opens
  • April 15, 2023 - FAFSA Deadline for Completion
  • June 30, 2023 - Deadline for Corrections to Submitted FAFSA

We strongly recommend that you complete the FAFSA as soon as possible in order to have the best opportunity for federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
