February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and SERV

Dating violence is more common than you may think, especially among teens and young adults: 1 in 3 U.S. teens will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before becoming adults. And nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors.

Each February, young adults and their loved ones nationwide raise awareness about teen dating violence through Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). This annual, month-long effort focuses on advocacy and education to stop dating abuse before it starts.

What is SERV?

Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) provides support to victims and survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking to help people in a journey toward healing and empowerment. SERV supports survivors through competence and empowerment and provides a safe space for all that encourages recovery and self-care. Our advocates protect the rights of survivors to ensure they are treated with compassion and dignity. Support is offered for the survivor and those close to them through 24/7 hotlines, online chat, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, safe housing, education, and counseling and support groups.

*All services are free of charge, strictly confidential, culturally sensitive, and Bilingual.

SERV provides sexual violence services in New Jersey's Camden, Gloucester, and Cumberland Counties; domestic violence services in Gloucester and Cumberland Counties; and human trafficking services in Camden, Cumberland, and Gloucester Counties.

Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2025 is taking place Monday, February 24 – Sunday, March 2, 2025.

Eating disorders have the second-highest mortality rate among mental health conditions, with one person dying from an eating disorder every 52 minutes, yet many are unaware of the barriers that can make it difficult to find recovery, including a lack of understanding about eating disorders and their impact.

This year’s theme, “The Time is Now,” aims to shift this perception—by highlighting the importance of sharing knowledge and resources, encouraging early detection and treatment, and supporting ongoing research.

Together, let’s make this #EDAW a turning point for greater awareness, empathy, and support for all impacted by eating disorders.
