Dear Crossroads Elementary School Families,

As we prepare to welcome students for the very first day of school at Crossroads Elementary, I wanted to share a few thoughts following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The ribbon cutting marked an exciting milestone for our district and this community. It was a celebration of a beautiful new school, but even more importantly, it was the beginning of a new chapter for the students, families, and educators who will soon bring the building to life.

Since becoming Superintendent, we have opened more than 250 classrooms throughout Paulding County, so I've attended my fair share of ribbon cuttings over the past few years, and I've learned something.

The easiest job belongs to the person holding the scissors. By the time we get to that moment, the real work has already been done by hundreds of people over the course of several years.

Crossroads Elementary is no exception. This school is the culmination of thousands of decisions, countless hours of planning, and an extraordinary amount of hard work. It reflects the vision of our Board of Education, the continued support of our community through E-SPLOST, the expertise of our architects and construction partners, and the dedication of district staff who worked tirelessly to bring this school from an idea on paper to the exceptional campus that now stands ready to serve students.

I also want to acknowledge Dr. Rodney Wilkerson, the founding principal of Crossroads Elementary School. While construction is complete, Dr. Wilkerson and his staff are just beginning their important work – establishing the culture, traditions, and high expectations that will define Crossroads Elementary for years to come.

Long after the ribbon-cutting ceremony has been forgotten, the legacy of Crossroads Elementary will continue to be written one student, one family, and one teacher at a time. Many years from now, no one will remember who cut the ribbon, but they will remember the teacher who believed in them, the lesson that inspired them, the principal who challenged them, the friend they met, and the opportunities that helped shape their future.

Because the true legacy of a school is never the building itself – It's the lives that are changed within it.

It is our privilege to partner with you as we help them learn, grow, and succeed. We are excited to begin this journey with you and look forward to all that the future holds.
