McKelvey Primary - Summer Edition 2

July 17, 2025

Dear McKelvey Primary Families,

I hope you're enjoying a wonderful summer! Our amazing custodial team has been hard at work preparing the building to welcome back our students and staff. We have a brand new gym floor that is close to completion and I know the kids will enjoy it.

I’m excited to meet our new families and reconnect with familiar ones very soon.

As we move through July and into August, I’ll be sharing more updates to help you prepare for the upcoming school year. Once the year begins, you can look forward to receiving Dragon News every Thursday to stay informed and connected.

Kindergarten families, you should have received an email regarding a Kindergarten screening sign-up. I will send it out again next week. Please let me know if you have not received it.

I can’t wait to see everyone soon! As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Christina Pliske

McKelvey Primary is our Kindergarten and 1st Grade school, located at 12657 Fee Fee Road, St. Louis, MO 63146.

Kindergarten "Soft Placement" Information

Our Kindergarten students participate in a "soft placement." This means that for the first few weeks of school students will arrive/dismiss, attend lunch/recess, and attend specials with the same teacher and peers. Throughout the rest of the day, students will rotate between three Kindergarten classrooms with different groups of students and with a different teacher. This will allow us to make the best possible placement for your child to optimize their learning experience. More information to come!

BooHoo Yahoo Breakfast for Kindergarten Families

The first day of Kindergarten is a big milestone—for both children and caregivers! Our BooHoo / Yahoo Breakfast gives Kindergarten parents a chance to take a breath, share a few tears or cheers, and connect with other families experiencing the same moment. Whether you're feeling a little emotional ("boohoo") or ready to celebrate this new chapter ("yahoo"), you're not alone—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Don't Forget to Register Your Child!

If you have a future McKelvey student or you have friends and neighbors that do, please remind them to register. Our staffing is based on enrollment numbers! Thanks for spreading the word! Click here to register your child.
