Hello Parents,

Our next field trip is to National Aquarium in Baltimore on March 26th. The cost is $60 per student. If a parent wants to chaperone, it is also a cost of $60. If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out to the teacher to discuss. You may also use a partial payment with the teacher.

We are about half-way through the quarter. Please check your students grades and missing assignments. Students should NOT have any missing assignments, they are given enough time in class to complete.

Parents, we would love for you to have a conversation with your student about active engagement. Active engagement is what allows your student to learn much quicker and to make connections for long term memory. This is crucial to their long-term goals.

Thank you for your continued support!

All of Rockledge is working on earning eggs to put in their class nests in the hall. If these nests are filled with 8 eggs, the students will earn the right to join the end of quarter celebration. There are 9 weeks in a quarter.

The classroom has an opportunity to earn as many eggs per week as they can.

How to earn eggs?

  • Students are prepared for class (materials at their tables and not in their lockers)
  • Follow SOAR expectations in the cafeteria, classroom and outdoor recess
  • Classroom is cleaned at the end of the day by the students

Our classes are working toward extra recess!

Literacy

Student are studying about how curiosity has an effect on exploration. They will be learning about explorers in the ocean, on land and in space.

Please have your student reading up to 50 minutes per day. This will help them build stamina for the SOL test. Thank you for all you do with supporting us.

Science

We have started the last of their energy units. Light and Sound are Ms. Swiggum's favorites. Ask your student about the effect of sound on water and how sound can also affect plants (Ikea bullying study).

Please use Canvas modules to help support studying for SOLs. There are past tests and study guides available.
