Edison Newsletter!
September 3rd, 2024
Dear Edison family,
What a wonderful week we’ve had at our school! I’m thrilled to share some highlights from our recent events and to thank you for your continued support and participation.
"Fall into Learning" Family Engagement Night
We had an amazing turnout at our "Fall into Learning" family engagement night! It was heartwarming to see so many families come together to explore fun and educational activities. Watching our students light up with excitement as they shared their learning experiences with you was truly special. Your involvement makes a tremendous difference, and we are grateful for the strong community spirit we continue to build together.
Marvelous Me Pre-K Parade
This past Friday, we celebrated our littlest learners during the "Marvelous Me" Pre-K Parade! It was a joy to watch our Pre-K students proudly showcase their creativity and individuality. Their smiles and enthusiasm reminded us of how important it is to celebrate each child's unique qualities. Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who came out to support and cheer on our young stars.
A Thought to Reflect On:
As we continue to nurture a supportive and caring school environment, I am reminded of a beautiful quote from Mr. Rogers:
"Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero to me."
Thank you for being the heroes in your child’s life and for partnering with us in their educational journey. Your dedication and love create the foundation for their success.
We look forward to more exciting events and learning opportunities ahead. Have a wonderful week, and as always, feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas to make our school even better.
Reoccurring reminders:
Reading and Writing at home: We do a great deal of reading and writing at school. Parents/Guardians, if you could help us out by helping your kiddos with their home work, also reading to them, and having them write something short and age appropriate (pre-k: trace some letters, Kinder: write a few short words, 1st grade: write a short sentence), would go a long way.
Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.
Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.
Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick.
New school policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...
Thank you, and have a blessed week!

Join the GISD Parent Advisory Committee!
Dr. Stewart would like to invite our GISD parents and guardians to join the 2024-2025 Parent Advisory Committee (P.A.C.). We recognize that parental involvement is one of the cornerstones of a thriving educational community. The P.A.C. provides a platform for parents like YOU to contribute to the shaping of the future of GISD. Your insights, perspectives, and ideas are invaluable as we navigate the exciting challenges and opportunities that come with a growing city and school district.
There are four meetings scheduled for the year: October 9, December 11, February 12, April 9. All meetings are held from 5:30 - 7pm. Each meeting will cover a variety of topics and will give you the opportunity to discuss important topics within GISD and public education.
We hope you can join us! Our goal is to have 100 people attend! Please consider coming to share YOUR voice!
