DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
"Do A Job"
OCTOBER 3, 2025
Coming off last week’s Homecoming Week of activities, this week felt very relaxed and calm here at DKHS. Friday night’s victory over Saugatuck, with students celebrating with the team at midfield, followed by Saturday’s Semi-formal dance, put a stamp on a great week of Panther Pride. Our volleyball team is now 15-0 in a recent run of sweeps inside our division over 5 other SAC schools. The Equestrian Team competed at Districts, cross country continues to have multiple medalists each meet, and our band finished a busy Homecoming week with a Saturday festival in Otsego. Swim and Dive is having success and setting many personal bests. Finally, our theatre kids are working hard every day to prepare the fall production. DKHS students are active and involved, and represent all of us in ways that should make us proud!
In the classroom, our EMT class was dissecting pig circulatory and respiratory systems. The Ag Science kids have their chickens in the coop, Allied Health, Welding & plasma cutting, IGNITE Manufacturing, Entrepreneurship, and Bite SCIzed Chemistry through food classes, along with many of our core classes, are bringing more hands-on, Real & Relevant learning to our students. Teachers are working hard to bring students to a place of success. I continue to be proud of the work our staff puts in, and we see daily examples of growth, discovery, and accomplishment from our students.
It's important to remember that the first marking period, which ends on October 24th, makes up 40% of the semester grade. Students should be working hard to get work turned in, finishing assignments, doing correctives when able, and setting themselves up for success. Please note that parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for October 14th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and October 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, as well as 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Both of those days are half days for students. We hope to see you here.
The bond design team is finishing up the specifics of our new Ag Science Barn, as well as our team room and our press box at the stadium. There are so many positive things happening at DKHS, and we couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds for our students and DK Schools.
This week’s Hogie’s Heroes are the cheerleaders and football players who went to the elementary school last week to hang out and have some fun with the elementary kids. Toss the football, sign some autographs, and just have fun and show kindness. That is the leadership and character we want from our High schoolers. Way to DO A JOB!!!
