π¨ New Library Books Alert π¨
We braved the crowds at the Follett warehouse book sale in McHenry this past Saturday and purchased 120 new books to infuse fresh life into our school library collection.
Navigating the aisles felt like a strategic treasure hunt, allowing us to select a rich, diverse array of new titles that will expand our students' reading horizons. Crucially, the sale also allowed us to purchase essential duplicates of some high-demand favorites and expand our Spanish picture book collection.
Hauling the boxes back to school was certainly a workout, but we're really looking forward to getting these fantastic new additions into our collection and into the hands of our students soon!
The Bookfair is Coming!
Preparing for the Book Fair
The in-person Fall Book Fair will be open for purchases from October 6th to October 10th. To prepare, the library will be closed for setup on October 2nd and open for a class preview on October 3rd.
On October 3rd, you can sign your class up for a 15-minute preview using this link. During this time, students can create wish lists that can be sent home. Additionally, a duplicate copy of the student wish list will be sent back to the classroom with teachers in the hopes to distribute it to parents during conferences to encourage book purchases.
Teachers with library time on October 2nd and 3rd are encouraged to reschedule their library and check out time. Please comment in the LRC schedule with your preferred alternative library time.
Shopping During the Fair
During the week of the fair, there will be no regular library time or book check-outs. Classes will not have a scheduled time to shop. New this year, you can send up to five students at a time to the book fair to buy books with laminated passes created by the LRC. These passes will appear in your mailbox by Friday, October 3rd.
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions and thank you for supporting the Fall Book Fair!
π€ Live Stream Read-alouds π€
Live stream read-alouds are meant to be quick, fun break in the day for your classes to enjoy a book without the added hassle of coming down to the library. Our test read-aloud, The Dot, was a success and we'd like to continue to offer this read-aloud break frequently throughout the year.
We also understand how preciousβand often packedβyour time is, that's why we're putting out a quick poll to find the best time to participate in a live stream read-aloud.
Please take a moment to take the poll below to cast your vote. Let's find that perfect pocket of time so we can share this experience together!
Please pick the best timeframe for a live stream read-aloud!

Tech Tidbits and Information
Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips
Here's a how-to slideshow with some basic troubleshooting tips for chromebooks. It includes information on how to fix a sideways screen, clearing your cache and turning off accessibility mode.
Vivi Updates - Extended Screen
For those who wanted to extend their desktops instead of mirror your screen you now can! Using the desktop vivi app you can set up multiple screens. Here's a quick how-to from microsoft or please reach out to Kristine to help!
YouTube Update
Elementary students cannot access YouTube as of June 2025. While this has its good points it may create a wrinkle in your teaching if you want students to utilize secondary video sources. But fear not! there is a workaround.
If you want to continue to use YouTube videos and have students access them you can embed them in google slides. If you have any questions about how to embed videos in your slides please reach out to Kristine. :)
Daily Sub Tech Capabilities
New this year, daily subs will use a chromebook issued from the LRC. These devices can connect to Vivi using classlink, however, daily subs do not have the ability to print.
They also do not have access to many Classlink and instructional apps. Please keep this in mind when you are planning an absence.
Below is a snapshot of what you're daily substitute will see in classlink.
