Last newsletter for 2025.

Dear families/whanau/parents/caregivers,

Today was rehearsal day for both the welcome and prize giving tomorrow. Tomorrow, if you are coming to the welcome can you please be in the school and standing behind the students at 9.45am. If you are late no problem come in the gate down beside the courts and sneak in around the library.

Can I please remind you that we have an official photographer who can move around but it is not appropriate for family members to walk around and take photos whilst the mihi whakatau is on.

Prizegiving is at the memorial hall. Children will be seated ready to start by 1.15pm. The prize-giving class and group items are superb. A poi dance by the juniors, modern dance by seniors, the new to the valley Bucket band and choir is also performing. Trophies and awards will be half way through the programme.

Friday is triple M day- very relaxed after Thursday. Kids can wear something christmassy if they would like. We have a movie and microwaved popcorn in the first block. Swimming and games in the 2nd block- kids need their togs. The lunchtime- make an ice-cream. In the afternoon sing some carols, make a Christmas decoration and make sure everyone is ready for Fundamentals on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Stationery 2026

Stationery

2026 each child will get a pack of stationery on their first day at school. This means staff don't wait for some kids to get their books (last year up to 3 weeks for some of the learners) and we can start work on learning straight away. Parents will be invoiced through HERO but equally will be able to pay on line. This takes just one more job off the busy plate of parents and caregivers.

Fundamentals in the last week of the Term Fundamentals in the last week of the Term

Both classes are going to Fundamentals at Stadium 2000 on the 15/16/17 December. Kids need rto wear sneakers- no crocs, gumboots or jandals allowed. They need snacks and a drink bottle. They do not need any money as they are not allowed to access the shops. They need a good lunch if they are not going to eat the school lunch that gets delivered. 2 towels and togs each day and a bag for wet clothes please.

Each day they are involved in a range of activities. Lunch is at midday and if fine we have that outside, so sun hats please. We get back by 2,30pm each day. We will let you know each day if there is only one bus run.

Last day of Term

On Thursday 18th December, which is our official last day, the children will just be playing up until midday when our final bell goes. We do not expect your children at school but if they are here I will be supervising them whilst teachers do their final pack up to get ready for the joiners coming in during January, for some classroom refurbishment.

Can you please advise school if your child is coming and if they will need a bus.

I am taking the staff to lunch at 12.30 to thank them and say my farewell to them as Principal. So please, if you are sending children can you be prompt with your pick ups. That would be so appreciated😀
