Family Education Workshops- Wednesday, October 25th
This year we are expanding our family education workshops to include two attendance options:
- 11:00am - 12:30pm in person at Support Services (1900 Cougar Country Dr. Cedar Park, TX). There will also be a virtual option available for this time slot.
- 6:00 - 7:30pm virtual only
The theme for this month is Ways to Support Your Student. Here is the workshop agenda:
Main Session 11:00am - 11:45am/ 6:00pm - 6:45pm
- Dyslexia & Related Disorders: It's Dyslexia Awareness Month and our team is coming to talk all things Dyslexia and related disorders! We'll be discussing what it is, how it effects your student, and resources that can be used to support them.
Choice Sessions 12:00pm -12:30pm/ 7:00pm - 7:30pm
AAC: Join this informative session on supporting literacy skills with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) users. Discover effective strategies for integrating AAC tools with complex communicators to engage in reading and writing activities. Learn how to create inclusive and empowering environments that promote literacy development, bridging the gap between communication and literacy for AAC users.
The Science of Reading: Learn how to integrate literacy skills at EVERY opportunity. Many years of research and testing explains HOW children learn to read. Neuro pathways, created by exposure to reading instruction and practice, connect to all four areas of the brain - We have the power to create these neural pathways at any time!!

Leander Lazers Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction- Saturday, October 28th
The Leander Lazers Special Olympics team are hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser and Silent Auction to raise funds for upcoming events.
If you are unable to attend the breakfast consider bidding on items at the silent auction. The auction will run until Thursday, October 26th.
Saturday Night Social - Saturday, November 4th
This will be amazing night of dancing and fun for all!! This event is for our friends in the community 11 years old to 99 with disabilities, their families and also BFF's.
Caregivers and participants will enjoy refreshments while dancing and enjoying a variety of activities. The Saturday Night Social will take place at Hill Country Bible Church (12124 RR 620 N Austin, TX 78750) This event is free, however you must register here.
