A note from Ms. Ballard
Greetings!
Last week students and families enjoyed our Scholastic book fair. Thank you to Mrs. Elgin, our librarian, and all other staff that made the event possible.
We are one week away from Thanksgiving break. Students have five more days of learning and growing. Please be sure to check in with our kiddos to remind them of good choices as many are excited for break.
Thank you Pastor John from Martinsburg Cooperative Parish & his congregation.
They donated clothes to our student closet.
Behavior Tips
The info below contains recommendations to help your child be successful.
Kids start developing their sense of self as babies when they see themselves through their parents' eyes. Your tone of voice, your body language, and your every expression are absorbed by your kids. Your words and actions as a parent affect their developing self-esteem more than anything else.
Praising accomplishments, however small, will make them feel proud; letting kids do things independently will make them feel capable and strong. By contrast, belittling comments or comparing a child unfavorably with another will make kids feel worthless.
Avoid making loaded statements or using words as weapons. Comments like "What a stupid thing to do!" or "You act more like a baby than your little brother!" cause damage just as physical blows do.
Choose your words carefully and be compassionate. Let your kids know that everyone makes mistakes and that you still love them, even when you don't love their behavior.
Attendance Matters
Check your child's planner and folder each night to check the attendance tracker.
Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.

Walkers
We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
