End of the First Quarter
BWMS Families,
Can you believe that the end of the 1st quarter of the 2026-27 School Year happened this week? I must say we have had a fantastic start of the school year and we appreciate the ongoing support from home to help provide a great experience for your student. As we start a new quarter next week, this is a great time to sit down with your student and have them share with you 2 things they think they have done well and 1 area they could improve. Reflection helps spring adjustments that will make a difference. Thank you!

School Updates
- The final day of the 1st quarter is Thursday 10/15/26.
There is no school on Friday 10/16/26 for a teacher workday.
The BWMS Book Fair will take place during Lunch during the week of Monday 10/19/26. Sponsored by our PTO, this is a great opportunity for students to find some new reading material. See the promo photo below.
Watch for details next week about the upcoming fundraisers for our BWMS PTO.
1st quarter report cards will be posted online in PowerSchool on Friday 10/23/26.
Picture Retakes will take place on Tuesday 11/3/26.
- 7th grade students will have the required suicide awareness and prevention programming from House Bill 123 on November 4th and 5th for Teams 7-A and 7-B and November November 9th and 10th for Team 7-C. Additional information to include the opt out form was emailed to families. Please check with school counselor Megan Burden or principal Josh Frame if you have any questions.
The Big Nut Strut is Sunday 11/8/26. Check out the details below and how you can help support our BWMS PTO at this community event.
BWMS would love to celebrate your Veteran at our annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Friday 11/13/26. See Details Below.
The first Eagles Night will be Friday 11/13/26 from 2:10PM-4:30PM. Sponsored by our Student Council and SOAR Leadership, this is a time for fun, games and more at BWMS. Cost is $5 at the door.

Parents, we have had a few more broken screens of chromebooks recently, if you could remind your student to be careful with the storage and care of this device, especially when in their backpack, it would be greatly appreciated.

Support our PTO at the Big Nut Strut
The 17th Annual Big Nut Strut is a fun, family-friendly event that brings our Big Walnut community together while supporting all Big Walnut Preschool, Elementary, Intermediate, Middle School, and High School PTOs. Your participation helps provide students with additional programs, materials, and experiences that enrich their education. There’s something for everyone—including our littlest runners!
After the race, families can enjoy face painting, bounce houses, food trucks, a DJ, and more! It’s a wonderful opportunity to run, play, and celebrate our Big Walnut community together.
You can participate in person or virtually in the 5K or 1-mile event. We’re excited to be back at Prairie Run Elementary (701 North Miller Drive, Sunbury) this year!

BWMS Athletic Information
Reminder that all athletes should have their final forms complete and a current OHSAA Evaluation Exam Form uploaded to Final Forms directly or emailed to Mrs. Kreager stephaniekreager@bwls.net. All physicals must be received prior to the first tryout date or first practice of the season.
