1st Catch Up of 2022-2023
Hi Conway #OneFamily!
School is almost here!!!!!! We can't wait to see you all so very soon! Here are some quick updates to keep you in the know.

Information for the week:
- Message from Dr. Taylor about the first few days of school is below (you may have also received it via email)
- Learning Cottages: This year, to help us not be so packed in like last year, we will have beautiful, custom made learning cottages behind our school (mobile, but permanent classrooms). Mrs. Cunningham, Mr. Miller, Ms. Harvin, and Mr. Pelletier (4th and 5th grade teachers) will be in these mobile classrooms. These classrooms are custom built, are permanent, and have everything that we have in every other classroom here: deadbolt doors in each room and the exterior doors, security systems, computers and projectors, internet, fire systems, and even their own climate control. We will send more information to these families next week once you know who your classroom teachers are.
- Chalk Messages to Welcome Back Teachers: Starting tomorrow (hopefully with no rain), we would love to invite you to come up to Conway's car rider entrance to grab some chalk and write welcome back messages to our staff. Chalk will be left on the porch area so you can come anytime you wish.
- Attendance: Coming to school every day and on time is HUGE for all of our kiddos. Their future really depends on it....both for academic growth and also for developing leadership habits for when they are older and are in the workforce. The time to focus this is never too early. Get those routines and expectations established. I promise you, it will pay dividends in the long run. Click HERE for information on why attendance matters, even in kindergarten.
- Additional Bus Assignment Form: Please complete this form if your student will be picked up and/or dropped off by a school bus at an address other than the home address. This includes students utilizing a private or commercial daycare. CLICK HERE
- School Nutrition: For information about Student Nutrition, how to put money on your child's account, and for menus..... Click HERE
- PTA: Our PTA will have a booth set up at Open House with school spirit wear to purchase, membership information, and information on the many volunteer opportunities this year.

Upcoming Events
- August 2nd: All Conway families will receive an email from their child's teacher welcoming them to their classroom.
- August 4th at 5:30 PM: Kindergarten Open House. Doors will open at 5:15 PM. Presentation will begin at 5:30 PM in the gym. Following the presentation, families will be invited to visit the classroom to meet their child's teacher. The evening will end at 7:00 PM.
- August 8th: 1st Grade - 5th grade Open House. To help with traffic control, we will have two sessions for open house. 1st Session: 4:00 - 5:30 for last names that begin with A - M. 2nd Session: 5:30 - 7:00 for last names that begin with N - Z. If you have a blended family with different last names or you cannot make it to your assigned session.....no worries. Just pick one that works for you. If most people follow these assigned times, we will be fine.
- First Day of School for Kindergarten Only on August 9th: For the first time ever in SCPS, Kindergartners, 6th Graders, and 9th Graders (those going through a major transition) will start school 1 day before everyone else. Kindergartners will come to Conway on Tuesday, August 9th.
- First Day of School for Everyone Else (1st - 5th) on August 10th: All 1st - 5th Graders' first day will be August 10th. Kindergartners will come as well.
- August 12th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM: Ice Cream Party for the whole school. All members of our #OneFamily are invited to join us for a celebration of a successful first week together. Bring your entire family for some free yummy ice cream and fun!

In person: August 2nd & 11th at 9:30 am at 31 Stafford Avenue.
