A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear PES community,
Congratulations to our students who participated in the Battle of the Books! 📚 Students begin preparing for this competition in September of the new school year, as they aim to read as many books as possible on the Maine Student Book Awards list. Mrs. Snell and Ms. Phippen read many of the books out loud to their classes. In January, students began practicing for the competition, as they spent their lunchtime in the library with Mrs. Polizotto, Mrs. Snell and Ms. Phippen. We had six teams compete at the event on the night of April 10th. All of our teams showed great sportsmanship and effort. Well done PES!
Together We Learn!
Don’t forget to join us tomorrow morning for the arts and music celebration, “Together We Learn.” This will be a great opportunity to bring our whole school community together. Families can experience what many of our special events throughout the year encompass. 🎸
New Staff Introduction!
We would like to welcome Andy Chipman to our team this spring as our music teacher. Mrs. Reed will be out after April break for the remainder of the school year. Mr. Chipman will be here to continue music education with our students in grades Pre-K to 5.
PBIS Celebration!
Students have reached another celebration for earning Anchor Way tickets. We have almost two jars completely filled. Well done to all! On Friday afternoon, we will celebrate with a whole school movie experience in the gym. Students are welcome to wear comfy clothes to school.
Expeditionary Learning!
With spring break next week, the end of the school year is likely to approach us with rapid speed. We will be starting our spring expedition work, which means that daily school attendance will be essential. Classrooms will have lots of fun opportunities for expert visits and field study trips. We are kicking off this learning event on May 1st with an expeditionary hands on learning experience for all students.
I hope you all have a wonderful spring break and enjoy some warming temperatures! Thank you for all the support of our PES learners.
Warm Regards,
Nina Willette, Principal

EXPLORER'S ECHO
Here is the most recent issue of the Explorer's Echo, an April break survival guide! Students had a blast creating this issue. I have attached a PDF of the issue, as well as a link to view directly on Canva.
