A Message from the Principal
I am really excited to see everyone tomorrow! The members of the Hunter Community are such a treasure and blessing in my life and I am glad to officially kick off our first week of learning, in person, tomorrow!
Soon after we return in person, our students will take the winter NWEA assessment. This is an adaptive, online assessment, that changes as the students answer questions right or wrong. Your child has already taken this test, and depending on their age, they have taken it multiple times. We use the data as ONE PIECE of information. We use the information to change what we as adults do. We change what we teach, how we teach, or the pace we teach.
In the coming week your child's teacher will communicate out to you that they are taking it. We work hard to try to take the test in small groups. We find students are able to perform better this way.
I encourage you to approach this test the way you see is appropriate for your child. Maybe you want to talk to them about giving their best effort and what that means on a test that won't give them a letter grade. Maybe, simple want to remind them not to stress about it. Each child is a little different as it comes to test taking! What we all have in common is we do better when we have a great night of rest and a healthy breakfast! Don't forget, all students can get free breakfast and lunch, daily, for the remainder of the school year! Be on the look-out for communiation regarding testing days from your child's teacher.
See you tomorrow!
My Best,
