Mrs. Elliott's Message
I hope that this email finds everyone enjoying this Memorial Day. Thank you to those that have dedicated their lives to serving in our Military. We have our freedom thanks to those that have served!
One of our favorite days of the entire year is welcoming the graduating class of SENIORS back to the halls of Maple. This year we were ready with decorations, signs and music to give them a send-off to remember! You can check out some of the pictures from the tour below.
Upcoming Dates
- 5/28 ~ N.O. Library Assemblies (Kick off to Summer Reading)
- 5/29 ~ Grade 3 Picnic at Little Clague Park
- 5/30 ~ Field Day
- 6/3 ~ Last day of School/3rd Grade Clap Out
With so much happening this week and early next, I wanted to make sure that families had the information they needed!
With Gratitude,
Mrs. Elliott
Kid's Hope Mentor Celebration
Our Kid's Hope Mentor had their End-Of-Year Celebration this week! They painted rocks, played games and enjoyed some home-baked cookies. A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Hoffa and all of the mentors for their time and dedication to this program!
3rd Grade Clap Out 🦅
Our 3rd Grade Clap Out is scheduled for the last day of school on June 3rd. For families that would like to attend, please arrive at Maple by 1:30. Parking will be limited, so consider using a side street (Frank or Oxford Oval) and walking to the school.
Our clap out will take place outside the school, weather permitting. Once you park, please line up in the back of the school to "clap out" our third graders.
If you plan to attend the clap out and would like to leave with your child, please fill out the survey below so we can have them bring their things with them during the clap out. We will need to have all parents/cars clear by 2:30 to prepare for our dismissal process. Thank you for your help with this!
Field Day ⚽
Our Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 30th, at the Maple Elementary School. Please make sure your child has tennis shoes for that day. Students will be permitted to bring a water bottle with them, but their name must be written on it somewhere. Last year we had a TON of lost water bottles.
Currently, the weather looks perfect so keep those fingers crossed. We will make the call on Thursday regarding the rain. We do not have a rain date scheduled. This year we have CARNIVAL THEMED events planned for the students.
Thank you to Mrs. Fielder to continue to help plan Field Day despite her absence. I would also like to thank Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Quarles for stepping up and taking over the reigns in her absence!!
If you are volunteering and would like to take your child home with you, please complete the survey below AND check in with your child's teacher before leaving.
One Book, One Summer 🍋
The goal of One Book, One Summer is to engage families in a shared reading experience. Your child will receive a copy of Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library during the last week of school along with a book mark with a reading schedule. Be sure to visit our One Book, One Summer webpage for additional resources that include trivia questions, STEAM activities, and more!
We are excited to have your participation in this One Book, One Summer reading program. Please stay connected with us over the summer by sharing photos on social media using #NOCSReads of your family reading or completing some of the BINGO board activities. Be sure to visit the N.O. public library to earn tickets for our prize raffle. Finally, be on the lookout for our One Book, One Summer celebration on August 14th! More specific details for this event will be shared later this summer on our website.
Books will go home with students on Wednesday, May 28th. With your help, we can build a community of readers in our schools!
Happy Reading,
North Olmsted City Schools
