Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Title I Parent Meeting and CAC Meeting! We truly appreciate your time, input, and partnership.
As we approach the end of the first nine weeks, please take a moment to check Skyward for your student’s grades and attendance. The last day of the grading period is October 17th.
Next week will be a three-day week — students do not have school on Monday or Friday. Please ensure your student has submitted all assignments before the break.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students shine both in and out of the classroom! Be sure to review the upcoming events listed below. Here is a link to the district calendar for your review.
Together, WE are Dessau Proud, Dessau Strong, and Dessau RISING!

IMPORTANT PfISD NOTICE: Please complete state-required forms
ACTION NEEDED BY SEPTEMBER 23: PARENT CONSENT FORMS
During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, Senate Bill 12 (SB 12) was passed, which requires school districts to obtain written parental consent before providing specific instruction and services.
Our district MUST have your consent in the following areas:
- Mental Health Related Services
- Physical Health-Related Services
- Participation in School-Sponsored Clubs
- Instruction on Abuse, Trafficking, and Violence
- Human Sexuality Instruction (4th-12th grade students only)
Your students’ required forms can be found in the Skyward Parent Portal. To access the permissions above, simply log in and select each of the tiles. Parents must complete forms for each child in the district. If you need to view the forms in another language, please right-click in the middle of the page, choose “Translate to <language>”, and then a pop-up box will appear. If you want to see the forms in other languages, you need to click on the three dots, and “Choose another language”, click on the dropdown, and select your language.
For more information about SB 12, you can visit the Texas Legislature’s website: https://capitol.texas.gov
Thank you for your prompt attention and for partnering with us to meet these new state requirements.

Reminder: Bus Safety
Several of our students ride the bus daily. It is very important that all of our students arrive to school and home safely every day. Bus drivers are focused on driving the bus while keeping students seated and safe during their routes. Misbehavior on the bus will result in bus suspensions. This includes frequently standing while the bus is moving, using disrespectful language or profanity that requires the bus driver to redirect behavior, bringing prohibited items on the bus of any kind, or mistreating other students. This behavior will not be tolerated for the safety of all who ride the bus. Our Diamondbacks should demonstrate RISE expectations at all times: Respectful, Inclusive, Successful, and Empowered.
Student IDs
All students have received IDs. They must wear them daily above their waste. If a student misplaces their ID it is $5 to replace their ID, heavy duty plastic badge holder and lanyard. If they only need one of these items, they are $2 a piece (ID = $2.00, heavy duty plastic badge holder = $2.00, lanyard = $2.00).
Reminder: Food Delivery Services
Per district policy, students are not allowed to order or receive food from food delivery companies such as DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats during the school day. Parents/guardians may come and drop off food to their student. Food deliveries for students will sent back with the delivery service.

Dessau Middle School Student Expectations
As we begin to have more events beginning after school, I want to remind all parents/guardians and students of the expectations we have in place for students to participate in and/or attend extracurricular events. We hold our Diamondbacks to high standards. In order to participate in extracurricular events weekly, (this includes playing in or attending games and attending after school recreational events) students should not have:
- any referrals, detentions, or suspensions,
- any tardies (unexcused)
If a students has any or all of the above stated circumstances during the week, they will not be allowed to participate in athletic games or attend the game as a spectator for that week. The reports are ran weekly, from one game day to the next. Please discuss the importance of positive conduct with your student. During grade level assemblies last week, we discussed theses expectations with all students. We do not want any of our students to miss out on opportunities. Coaches and activity sponsors will be notified of any athlete or student member that is on the list for disciplinary or tardy reasons.
Student will not be admitted into games or extracurricular activities without student IDs.
Student that are eligible to attend the game, MUST go home at the end of the school day. Students may not wait on campus for the games to begin. This leaves students without adult supervision for 2 hours. Any student remaining on campus to attend the game will be denied admission into the game. A parent/guardian will be called to pick the student up. Students must go home and may return to attend the game at 5:00 pm. All games generally begin at 5:30 pm. Backpacks must be left at home - backpacks are not allowed into games.
