Dear Families,

We had another wonderful week at PRES—beginning with pumpkins for every student on Monday, generously provided by Johnson’s Roadside Farm, and wrapping up with our festive Halloween Spirit Day today! We hope all of our students and families have a fun and safe evening if you’ll be out trick-or-treating tonight.

As we move into the late fall season, we are reminded of the importance of giving back to our community. Next week, we will begin our annual PRES Food Drive to help provide meals for families in need during the upcoming holidays. We are always grateful for the generosity and kindness shown by our school community with our community service projects and especially during this special time of year. If your family is in need of assistance with food for a Thanksgiving dinner or a December holiday meal, please complete this confidential form.

Please remember that there will be no school on Tuesday, November 4th, due to staff professional development. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

The holidays are just around the corner, and the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is once again partnering with the Greater Attleboro Council for Children through the Christmas Is for Kids program to bring joy and comfort to local families in need. Superintendent Runey emailed all district families earlier today with details about the program and how to apply.

Families who have previously participated must apply by Friday, November 8, and new families have until Friday, November 22. Applications are available at each school, the Superintendent’s Office, or online. Donations are also welcome—your generosity helps make DReams come true for even more children this season!

For more information or to apply, visit www.councilforchildren.org or contact bruney@drregional.org. Together, we are DR! 💚💛

🐝 The Buzz from the Health Office 🐝 🐝 The Buzz from the Health Office 🐝

Dear Families,

During this Halloween week, we’re noticing more than just ghosts and goblins around school — there's also been an increase in stomach bugs, viral illnesses, and a few cases of strep throat. While it’s the season for spooky fun, let’s work together to keep our classrooms healthy and full of treats, not tissues!

When to Keep Your Child Home

  • If your child has a fever, please keep them home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

  • If your child has been vomiting or has diarrhea, they should stay home until at least 24 hours after the last episode, and are eating and drinking normally again.

  • Make sure your child feels back to their usual, energetic selves before returning to school. It is completely normal to take an extra couple of days to recover.

Wash Away Those Germy Goblins!

  • Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the bathroom. Here is a short handwashing video to show your children. Handwashing video

  • Hand sanitizer does not kill the stomach bug (norovirus) — soap and water are your best defense!

  • Remind children to avoid sharing candy, food, or drinks, even with friends.

  • Remind them to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or elbows — no one wants a “boo” cough!

About Strep Throat

If your child complains of a sore throat, stomachache, or develops a fever without other symptoms, please have them evaluated by their healthcare provider.
Children diagnosed with strep throat should stay home until they’ve been on antibiotics for 24 hours and are feeling better.

A Healthy Halloween Reminder

As your children enjoy their Halloween treats, encourage moderation and good hydration, and remind them to brush away those “sugar bugs” before bed!

Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy and safe — let’s make this Halloween full of fun and free of germs!

One in thirteen children have food allergy, which can cause life-threatening allergic reactions. Food allergy is a disease, not a diet. Will you help make Halloween fun for everyone? See the flyer below.
