From Doubt to Divine Mercy
As we approach Divine Mercy Sunday, I find myself reflecting on the Gospel of "Doubting Thomas" and how deeply it resonates with our roles as parents, guardians and educators. When Thomas the apostle stood before the Risen Christ, he was met exactly where he was with an invitation to encounter Jesus, even in the midst of his uncertainty and need for proof.
In our school hallways and around our dinner tables, we encounter this desire for validation every day. We see students who doubt their own abilities, children who question their worth after a mistake, and even ourselves, wondering if we’re doing enough. Divine Mercy reminds us that God’s love doesn’t require us to be perfect (or certain!). It simply requires us to be present. I believe that our greatest task is to mirror His patience. When we respond to a child’s with compassion rather than frustration, we are allowing them to experience a mercy that heals and restores!
May we have the peace of knowing we are enough and exactly where we need to be in God’s hands as we strive to make our school and our homes sanctuaries of mercy.
