11/2/2026: Community Newsletter

Ingraham News
Hi Ingraham Families,
I canβt believe weβre already in November. The weeks are flying by, and we had a lot of events from FOIβs Annual Appeal Kickoff to Trunk-or-Treat and our Haunted House.
A huge thank you to Erika Bigelow and Isaac Peterson for organizing the Annual Fundraising Appeal Kickoff at Halcyon Brewing! It was great seeing families connecting and playing a little trivia. I am pretty sure my team won, although I didnβt contribute muchπ Thank you to Mr. Wheatley, Ingraham AP, for organizing our first Trunk-or-Treat. It was great seeing future Rams connect with our students, staff, and community. Lastly, thank you to Mr. Wentzel and ASB for another amazing Haunted House! Every year it gets bigger and better. The line to get in stretched what looked like a couple of football fields!
Now, I want to shift gears and talk about academics at Ingraham.
Iβve shared a lot about our attendance and how weβve been knocking it out of the park. And yes, we still areπ But I also want to highlight the great work happening in our classrooms.
This year, our teachers are focused on three instructional practices: students know what they are learning and why, students are intentionally grouped or paired, and students receive feedback in multiple ways.
As you talk with your student, I encourage you to ask, βWhat are you learning in class, and why?β Your student should be able to explain what they are learning each day, not just what activities. I know they're High Schoolers, so getting anything out of them is great...if you do, it should include more than class activities.
Feedback is another major focus this year. Our teachers are working hard to create lessons where students receive feedback from classmates, teachers, and resources such as texts, articles, books, and primary sources. In a classroom of 32 students, relying on feedback from just one person limits learning opportunities. By providing multiple ways for students to receive immediate feedback, we create a stronger learning environment where students can recognize their progress and understand where they need to improve. I'm excited about the work our teachers are doing!
Lastly, I want to address something I heard last week. Apparently, some seniors are planning a Senior Skip Day todayβΉ While I appreciate our seniors wanting to come together and create memories, skipping school isn't the tradition we'd like to encourage. This is not a school sponsored event, so please encourage your senior to attend school.
We've made tremendous progress with attendance, and I want to keep that momentum going! Plus, our seniors only have 139 school days left together. This is an amazing senior class that has already done so much for our community. I hope they make the most of every day they have left at Ingraham, including the ones spent in classπ

Ingraham NEEDS YOU!
Open House is right around the corner on January 12th! This is our opportunity to showcase Ingraham to prospective 8th grade families. Enrollment directly impacts our budget, staffing, and the programs we can offer students, so let's make this the best Open House in the district!
I'm looking for staff, students, and community members to help plan and promote this event across Seattle. We'll meet 4β5 times between now and January 12th.
If you're interested in joining the planning team, please fill out this form- Open House Interest Form β Fill out form.
Ingraham Clubs
Ingraham clubs are up and running. Please talk to your student about joining a club- it's a great way to connect to other students and the school. If you have any questions about clubs you can reach out to Mr. Wentzel mjwentzel@seattleschools.org, Ingraham Activity Coordinator.
