Attendance Update- Day 45 is 11/3
Monday, November 3, 2025, marks Day 45, the end of the first quarter of the school year. At this point, we will be reviewing attendance totals for all students. Families of students who have been absent five or more days will receive a letter, as this represents 10% of the school year and meets the definition of chronic absenteeism at this time of the year. Research shows that early patterns of absence are strong predictors of continued attendance challenges later in the year. Our goal in sharing this information is to partner with families to identify and address any barriers to attendance and to ensure that every student has the opportunity to fully participate and succeed at school.
Below is the contact information for support team members who would be happy to discuss your student's absences with you:
Shannon Carbino, Data Specialist, carbinos@holliston.k12.ma.us
Missy Jordan, Nurse, jordanm@holliston.k12.ma.us
Erin Shea, Counselor, sheae@holliston.k12.ma.us
Brielle Chadsey, Counselor, chadseyb@holliston.k12.ma.us
Brenda Maurao, Assistant Principal, mauraob@holliston.k12.ma.us

Awareness: Paper Darts
We’ve noticed a recent trend among students making “paper darts” — folded paper creations that sometimes include a sharp point made from a paper clip or flattened staple. These darts can cause injuries and are not allowed at school.
If a student is found with one of these items, administration will be notified and appropriate follow-up will occur. Please take a moment to remind your child that these items should stay at home to help keep everyone safe at school.

Lost and Found- Items on Display Through 11/10/25
Our Lost and Found items are currently on display in the Miller School lobby. When you visit for conferences, please take a moment to look through the items — you might spot something that belongs to your student! You can also visit the school during school hours to look at items (even if you don't have a conference). Just ring the bell and someone from the office will welcome you in!
We will also have our lost and found items available outside of Miller School from Friday night, November 7th through Sunday night, November 9th in front of Miller School for families.
All remaining items will be bagged and donated on Monday, November 10th.
Miller's November Theme: Courageous
Our November school theme is “Courageous.” This month, we’re focusing on what it means to be brave—trying new things, standing up for what’s right, and showing kindness even when it’s hard. Families can support this theme at home by talking with their children about moments when they’ve shown courage, such as speaking up for a friend, asking for help, or persevering through a challenge. You might also share stories from your own life or from books and movies where characters make brave choices. These conversations help students see that courage comes in many forms and that being courageous helps our whole school community grow stronger together.
