Hornet Families,
What a great week to be a Hornet! Next week we have a load of activities as we celebrate Homecoming Week! Our 8th grade students and band members will be traveling to Custer for the Homecoming events at the Junior/Senior High and will be participating in the Homecoming Parade. Preschool-7th grade will have a parade of their own beginning at 1:45. You can find the map of the route below. PLEASE NOTE, STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED EARLY AT 2:30 ACROSS THE DISTRICT FOR HOMECOMING! 8th grade and band students will arrive back to the school between 3:45-4:30. You can find more information about Homecoming below.
Remember to check out the important information below and make sure you check out the pictures from the week at the bottom of the newsletter. I hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Special Education Referrals & Eligibility
A special education referral is the process of formally requesting an evaluation to determine if a student has a disability that affects their learning. Referrals can be made by teachers, parents, or other professionals when a student shows signs of academic, behavioral, or developmental challenges.
Eligibility for special education is determined through an evaluation conducted by a multidisciplinary team. The evaluation assesses various areas such as academic performance, cognitive functioning, and behavior. To qualify, the student must meet the criteria for one of the disability categories under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and require special education services to succeed in school.

Greetings!
Our fourth full week of school is in the books!
Next week is Homecoming, and student energy will be high with the fun of dress-up days and celebrating our school and District. Younger students have asked, "What's Homecoming?" In reply, Homecoming is a special week where we take time to celebrate our school because we are all proud to be Hornets and are proud of our school! This answer is reflected in our classroom conversations about school pride. Having school pride means we also try our hardest in the classroom and give our best effort. If we can, we attend after-school events and sports. We also encourage others for their success.
Students are always watching and observing us and thus, our thoughts and feelings about school are reflected in them. How do you model school pride at home?
Next week we will continue discussing School Pride in counseling lessons and introducing our first Character Counts, Trustworthiness. So far, there has been great discussion about what it means to be trustworthy and how we display it at home, school, and with our friends. Students have hit the key components of doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, following expectations, being honest, and respecting secrets if given one.
Have an amazing weekend!
