We understand that the snow banks have made afternoon pickup parking even more of a challenge. However, please keep in mind that there is absolutely no parking along Tiger Drive or in the Staff Parking Lot. Vehicles parked in these areas are blocking buses and special education vans.

Additionally, cars are being parked and left in non-designated spaces in both the Staff and Crowe parking lots.

Overflow parking is available at Fowler School. Please plan accordingly when arriving for pickup.

Beginning next week, the Maynard Police will be onsite to help enforce these parking restrictions.

Kindly follow the posted guidelines to ensure the safety and smooth dismissal of all students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Do you want your child to be emotionally healthy? Then stop rescuing them when things get uncomfortable! Discomfort is a part of life. While adults naturally want to spare children discomfort, whether it be of an emotional, social or physical nature, rushing in to make everything agreeable leaves them with an even bigger problem - the inability to solve their own problems. A more long-term solution would be to teach them how to regulate during times of discomfort and tolerate being in that space. The emotionally healthy child has what’s known as “discomfort tolerance” and developing this is an important reason why kids need to get uncomfortable. After all, real strength comes from encountering difficulty, not from being shielded by it. Questions or feedback? Please contact Julie Danforth at jdanforth@maynard.k12.ma.us.
