October 7th

Message from Mr. Karmazin, Principal
Week of October 7th, 2024
Dear Bryan Middle Families,
As we approach our student-led parent-teacher conferences, I want to remind you of a few important ways to stay connected and support your student’s academic success:
2 - Access the Parent Portal - Don’t forget to log in to the parent portal! Here, you can stay up to date on your child’s grades, attendance, and important school notifications. If you haven’t yet signed up, please contact Dr. Clark at lakresha.clark@ops.org for assistance. This will help ensure you stay informed about your student’s progress.
3 - Ensure iPads are Charged - A reminder to help your student charge their iPad each night so they’re ready for a full day of learning. This small step can make a big difference in their daily success.
4 - Encourage 60+ Minutes on SuccessMaker Each Week - SuccessMaker is a vital tool for your student’s growth in math. We encourage all students to spend 60+ minutes each week working on SuccessMaker to strengthen their skills. Your support at home is key to their progress.
Together, we can help ensure your student is set up for success! Thank you for your continued partnership.
Best regards,
Mr. Karmazin
Principal, Bryan Middle School

After-School Tutoring Program and Academic Recovery
The After-School Tutoring program is available for students who want year-long help to improve their skills and get help so they are more successful in the classroom. They also work on finishing assignments, improving grades, and achieving higher scores on standardized tests. Tutoring meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week after school from 3:15 to 5:00 and students must attend at least twice a week. Students that are eligible for a bus can ride the late bus home. Contact Mrs. Raszler by phone at (531) 299-2300 or by email at Lisa.Raszler@ops.org for more information.
Academic Recovery will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:05 to 4:30. Students may sign up to attend whenever they need time to complete homework when they fall behind due in their coursework by talking with a teacher or administrator. Parents can also request Academic Recovery for their student by calling the office at 531-299-2300.
Attention All Music Parents!
If your student is in Band, Orchestra, or Choir - we are asking that you purchase a shirt to wear for the concerts. Please ask your student about the order form, if they haven't already shown it to you. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter - thank you for supporting your students - and our music program!!! If $12 is a hardship for your family, just email your child's teacher so that we can make sure he/she is taken care of. Likewise, on the order form there is a section where if you are able or want to donate an extra $12 for a shirt for a student in need, we would greatly appreciate your help! We have already received a lot of assistance with making sure our students are all taken care of - and we are so grateful.

From the Counselors
Here are 5 ways to support your child with their academics!
Check their grades in Infinite Campus at least once a week and remember to give positive feedback when your child is doing well and ask them about missing assignments or low grades. https://campus.ops.org/campus/portal/parents/ops.jsp
Look over planners which are used to assist each student in setting personal goals, record achievement, managing time, recording class assignments, check-off completed assignments.
Encourage your child to do at least 30 Minutes of Success Maker lessons a week in math or their Reading Inventory.
Encourage your students to do some of the following to help keep up with deadlines. We understand that sometimes we can’t make it to school, so keeping in contact with their teacher about where they can access their missing work will help them stay on track!
Does your child need a tutor? Contact us to inquire about tutoring after school in the library! Offered Tuesdays-Thursday until 5pm, contact Mrs Raszler for more information, Lisa.raszler@ops.org. Or if your child would like to stay afterschool (Tuesday-Thursday) to work on homework/missing assignments, email their counselor and have them sign up for academic recovery!
Please contact a counselor if you have questions or concerns at any time!

- If the student continues to utilize the electronic device outside the designated time, the staff member will confiscate the device for the remainder of the period.
- If the student fails to comply with the staff members’ direction, administration or security will be called and the device will be confiscated for the remainder of the school day.
Additional interventions for violating the electronic device policy may include, but are not limited to:
- Lunch or after school detentions.
- Daily phone check-in at the beginning of the day for an extended period.
- Parent pick up of the electronic device.
- Parent/Student conference held at the school to discuss the issue.
