SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH UPDATE

The Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education continues its search process to find a new superintendent, replacing departing Superintendent Ben Kirby.

As a part of that process, the Board hired the Michigan Association of School Boards to lead the search and is now in the input phase, gathering feedback from important stakeholders.

On May 15-16, the search consultant will be holding public meetings for the LOCS community to engage with the process.

On Wednesday, May 15, community members have two options:

  • Attend an in-person session from 1:30-2:15 p.m. at the LOCS Administration Building (315 N. Lapeer St., Lake Orion).
  • Log in to a virtual option from 6-6:45 p.m. on a Zoom meeting. Registration is available at the meeting link.

On Thursday, May 16, community members have two options:

  • Attend an in-person session from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Lake Orion High School in the Kiva (through the commons and down the stairs).
  • Attend an in-person session from 6:30-7:15 p.m. at Lake Orion High School in the Kiva (through the commons and down the stairs).

Gathering input to build the candidate profile is an early step in the search process. Those who cannot attend the meetings are able to offer their input through an online survey.

More information about the upcoming steps and the job posting can be found at LakeOrionSchools.org/SuperintendentSearch.
