New: EVCF Presents...Dueling Pianos and Silent Auction

The Eastview Community Foundation supports Eastview High School and the 12 schools in our attendance area. Our students and programs have benefitted greatly from their generous work. They provide grants to schools, annual Random Acts of Kindness funds, and scholarships to our Eastview seniors (approximately $100,000 each year!). To put it simply, they do good work that directly impacts our students, our staff, our school and our community.

There is a live fundraising event this Saturday, April 20th to help raise funds to support this work. It is a dueling pianos event at Bogart’s in Apple Valley. Tickets are $25, with doors opening at 6pm and live music starting at 8pm. CLICK HERE to learn more and purchase tickets if you are interested.

If you can’t make it to the event, but would like to check out the online silent auction, CLICK HERE. They have curated a large auction with a wide variety of items, all various price points. You do not need to be present at the event to browse, bid or win.

If you’d like to support the mission and work of EVCF, you can become a sustaining member for as little as $5/month (that’s less than a stop at Starbuck’s!). CLICK HERE to initiate a sustaining membership.

Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons

Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Lightning Boys JV volleyball team rolled over Hopkins Monday night, winning in straight sets. The team used tough serving and good defense to lock up with win, with scores of 25-8, 25-10.

The varsity squad came back from trailing two sets to none to win the non-conference battle with Hopkins in 5 sets. The boys started fast, but ended up losing the first set 23-25. Hopkins controlled the momentum in the second set, cruising to a 25-18 win. The Lightning steadied the ship in the 3rd set behind solid serving and good team defense at the net and in the back row, winning 25-19. The fourth set saw the lightning get ahead in the early stages and never relinquish the lead despite some short runs by the Royals. The boys won the 4th set 25-21. In the 5th and deciding set, the Lightning jumped to a lead with an ace and a great defensive rally, and never looked back, winning 15-6. Junior defensive specialist Will Fulford provided a spark from the service line and some key defensive plays to help the Bolts change the momentum in the 2nd and 3rd sets. Sophomore Libero Aiden Wilson and sophomore outside hitter Jay Thammavongsa also made several key plays for the team throughout the night.

The win moves the team’s record to 2-0 on the season heading into another non-conference battle in Austin this Thursday night. The next Lightning home match is Monday, April 22 when the team hosts Lakeville South.
