Week 7 (2026-2027 School Year)
WEEK 7 REFLECTION
This is the sixth reflection in a seven part series on our "Navigate with Purpose" theme to kick off the year.
As we continue to work through our school theme of "Navigate with Purpose, we arrive at "S" which stands for Serve Your Community. Over the past few weeks, we have been reminded of just how much a community matters. Through difficult moments and unexpected challenges, we have seen the compassion, generosity and support that make Pequannock such a special place.
When we talk about serving our community, it begins with recognizing that we all have something to contribute. It does not require grand gestures or a significant time commitment. Sometimes, it simply means showing up, lending a hand or letting someone know they are not alone. Over the course of the past few weeks, we have seen these examples on full display from students, staff, the community, local businesses and even complete strangers. The key to serving the community though cannot only happen in times of need. It is something that should be a part of daily practice.
As we head into the fall season, there are plenty of ways in which you can serve our community. This weekend's HSA fall clothing drive is an opportunity to support families in need. Clean out your closets and drop off clothes that you no longer use or need. You can drop them off from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. Other ways you can serve your community are donating nonperishable items to our local food pantry at the First Refomred Church, helping a neighbor with raking leaves, help work the snackstand at a Friday football game, or support the many fundraisers that are happening here at PTHS.
Service also means showing up for one another. Attending a school game, supporting a student performance, participating in a fundraiser or cheering on our students sends a powerful message that their efforts matter. A special shout out to the football team who supported the Marching Band at the home show and presented trophies at the awards ceremony! These simple acts strengthen the connections that make our community special. As we head into county and state competition season, get out there and support the Golden Panthers!
Our Profile of a Graduate compass reminds us to consider what we want our students to be able to do when they graduate from PTHS. Empathy, responsibility and self-direction all guide us to service. I encourage our students, staff and community members to find one opportunity this week to make a positive difference. Whether you donate, volunteer, lend a hand or simply show up, your contribution matters. A strong community is built when people consistently do what they can to help others. Our Pequannock community is incredibly strong and I am so proud to be a part of it. #nocknation
