Something to Think About

Be sure to attend this month's PTA meeting. Two members of the Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools Board of Education will be present and will share information about issues that will effect our district and our school. This will be important information for all GJPS tax payers. Please make plans to attend the upcoming PTA meeting here at Goshen Lane Elementary School Tuesday, March 11th beginning at 7:00 p.m.

School Counselor's Corner

Dear GJPS Families,

Beginning last school year, districts in Ohio have been navigating new legislation related to

health and safety lessons that schools are required to include as a part of the curriculum. House

Bill 123 and Senate Bill 288, as outlined in the chart below, provide instruction to students in

grades K-12 on these topics.

We have developed our plan for delivery and have begun communicating with parents in

preparation for instruction. There are many details related to both House Bill 123 and Senate Bill

288 and we wanted to provide clarifying information on both components of our curriculum.

For 4th Grade Students and Families,

Ohio History Connections, the organization that operates the Ohio Historical Center and the Ohio Village, also oversees over 50 other historical sites across the state. In addition, they also publish the Ohio as America curriculum Gahanna uses for 4th-grade Social Studies. Because our district uses its curriculum, Ohio History Connections is offering a free membership for each of our 4th graders! This membership will grant each student and one adult free entry into any of the historical sites they operate until August of this year. To register for this membership, complete the registration form found here. You can also find a list of all of the historical sites they operate here.
