SACS Takes The Championship in Tech and Engineering Day Competition!:
From Mr. Rouleau (03-25-2026):
We are thrilled to announce that St. Albans City School has been crowned the Overall Champions of the Tech and Engineering Day Competition for the second consecutive year! Thirty of our 7th and 8th-grade students put their STEAM expertise to the test. SACS took the top spot in five major events—Pinewood Derby, bridge building, 'Crack the Code,' paper tower, and Potato Head—and earned 3rd place honors in three others--cupcake decorating, Operation game, and birdhouse design. Whether they were competing for medals or exploring non-scored fields like coding and graphic design, our students represented SACS with brilliance and spirit. Congratulations to our back-to-back champions! Below are pictures of the various teams that worked together and the whole group.

Women's History Month In Our Library!
Claire DeSorgher
Did you know that March is Women’s History Month? Well, it is, and if you have been to the library recently, you may have noticed that Mrs. Levine is spotlighting that in a lot of different ways. I talked to her on March 19th and asked her a couple of questions about how she is spotlighting this very important part of the year.
Claire: Firstly, can you list all the things you are doing to spotlight women's history month in the library?
Mrs. Levine:
- I made the circulation desk a display of groundbreaking women with posters of them, which was new this year.
- I have been doing read-alouds with younger students. Reading books written by women or highlighting women who have been changemakers in our world.
- I curated a display of books about women in history
- When doing all of the curation, I thought of diversity going into it. Like women in S.T.E.M or BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and People of color) women.
- In Destiny Discover, I created a catalog collection of books for Women's History Month so people can easily find books about women's history online.
- I created bookmarks for Women's History Month.
Claire: Is this year's spotlighting of women’s history month in the library any different from last year's? If so, how?
Mrs. Levine: This year, everything is more prominently displayed in the library. I was motivated to do that because I was surprised at how many kids didn't know that March was Women’s History Month. I wanted to educate them on the topic and make sure they were aware that March is Women’s History Month.
Claire: Are there any specific books you would want to highlight on the announcements? Any specific books that you think stand out and should be recognized?
Mrs. Levine: A series, actually, the Little People Big Dreams series, written by a woman, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. I wanted to highlight this series because I think it is good for all age groups, from four-year-olds to forty-year-olds, and anyone could pick it up, read it, and enjoy it.
Thank you to Mrs. Levine for doing so much to recognize women’s history month and also for doing so much for our library and school in general. Thank you to everyone for reading, and remember, March is Women’s History Month!

TROUT UPDATE (03-27-2026):
From Mr. Rouleau:
The trout continue to get bigger in size. They are eating more and more as we are feeding them 3 times a day. You may notice one of the fish has a body that looks different than the others. Fish, like humans, sometimes are born different. There are 2 fish in the tank that have this difference. These fish are a little bit like Nemo in the movie Finding Nemo. When you get to 7th and 8th grade we will help you to understand how and why these differences occur.
