PET DAY 2026
Pets Day:
Firstly, we want to acknowledge the incredible effort our students have put into Pets Day this year. Whether you have spent months caring for and rearing an animal, preparing for judging, or putting your creativity into a project, you should be incredibly proud of what you have achieved. Pets Day is about so much more than winning a ribbon; it is about dedication, hard work, creativity, responsibility, and celebrating what makes each of us special.
A huge thank you must go to our FOCTS team, whose dedication, organisation, and countless hours of work make a day like today possible. Events like Pets Day simply do not happen on their own. They take people who are willing to give their time, roll up their sleeves, organise the details, find support, and work behind the scenes to make it all happen. We are incredibly fortunate to have people who care so much about creating these opportunities for our students.
We also want to acknowledge our staff and senior students who have stepped in to support Pets Day throughout the week and today. We have seniors supporting Stepping Stones, enabling our youngest tamariki to come along and be part of this special community event. We have seniors helping in the animal rings, working hard in the hall yesterday to prepare and display the artwork, and continuing to support us with pack-down after the event. To our staff who have given their time, energy, and flexibility to make all of this happen, thank you.
This is one of the things that makes being an area school so special. Our tuakana–teina relationships are something we truly value. Seeing our older students supporting our younger tamariki, stepping up to help, and taking responsibility for their kura is exactly what we want to see. It is about looking after one another, being connected, and understanding that we all have a part to play in making our school community a great place to belong.
Thank you to our judges for giving up your time and sharing your knowledge and expertise with us today. Your contribution helps make this a special and valuable experience for our students.
To our BBQ stars, thank you for keeping everyone fuelled and ready for the day! We also extend a huge thank you to Farm Source for supplying the BBQ and providing staff to support us. To ANZ, DairyNZ, ANZCO, Coastal Earthworks, FMG, Fonterra, Okato Vets, LIC, Nga Kotare, Highfields Equestrian, Saddlery Warehouse and Farm Source, thank you for your continued support, both through the people power you provide and the fantastic prizes that recognise and reward our students' efforts.
A special thank you to Halter, who have generously donated a sausage for every student today. This is such a wonderful gesture and reinforces something really important: Pets Day is for everyone. Whether you have lovingly reared an animal, created an amazing piece of artwork, or simply come along to enjoy the day, every student deserves to feel included and to have a place to shine.
We also want to give a special acknowledgement to Vicky Thomas and her team of judges for making our Creative Minds section such a success. This section is incredibly important because it gives our students another opportunity to showcase their talents, imagination, and hard work. Thank you for ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be involved, be celebrated, and shine in their own way.
Finally, a reminder that the strength of our kura and our community lies in the people who get behind our young people. Pets Day is a fantastic example of what we can achieve when students, whānau, staff, volunteers, and local businesses come together with a shared purpose.
So, to everyone who has contributed in any way, big or small, thank you. Your time, generosity, and commitment make a real difference to our students and help create the memories and experiences that make being part of our kura so special.
FREE Sausage on Pets Day
The FOCT team wishes to give a huge thank you to Halter for generously donating the sausages and helping make the day extra special for our ākonga as every student received a free sausage on Pets Day! 🌭
Ngā mihi nui to FOCT and Halter for supporting our kura and helping make Pets Day a wonderful day for everyone! 💛
