Math

Fulwider's Class: We are finishing our unit on Expressions. We will have a test on Thursday.

Rushing's Class: We are continuing with our unit on Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities.

Fulwider's Advanced: We are continuing with our unit on Equations. We will have a quiz on Wednesday.

Rushing's Compacted: We will begin our unit on Functions. Students learn how to represent, interpret, and analyze functions in various forms, leading to understanding features such as rates of change, initial values, and intervals of increase and decrease.

ELA

Students have begun their new novel study with Prisoner-B 3087. The setting of the novel is during the Holocaust in WWII Nazis Germany and follows a teenage boy through that time period. We are focusing on summary, vocabulary, and development of ideas over the course of the text. Accompanying fiction and nonfiction texts are included in the unit to support our novel study.

Social Studies

We will be starting Unit 3, The Age of Revolutions. Students need to answer the questions in their notebooks throughout the whole unit. Copying the notes is worth 30 points in the notebook and the questions are worth 70 points. There were a lot of blank questions in these last notebooks.

Science

Students will continue studying and working on our Weather unit to wrap up any last minute objectives and activities before we have our end of goal test on this unit. The test should occur the week of October 26th.

Health and PE

Students will continue working on their Mental & Emotional Health unit (Understanding stress, negative responses to stress and positive stress management). Cafe assignments due 10/30. We will complete our Q2 fitness tests this week so please come prepared.

  1. 🗓️ Check Infinite Campus together weekly — Stay ahead of missing assignments before they pile up.
  2. 👀Create a Parent Observer account in Canvas — It allows parents to view assignments and announcements in Canvas. This is a great way for parents to know what is going on in class.
  3. 📧 Encourage your child to email teachers with questions — It builds confidence and responsibility.

  4. 📝 Ask to see their notes — It keeps them accountable and organized.

  5. 🧠 Review upcoming tests/projects on Sunday nights — Plan a strong start to the week.

  6. 🎒 Let them pack their own backpack — Small habits lead to big independence.

  7. 🎉 Celebrate effort & improvement, not just grades — A strong work ethic matters most.

Reminders Reminders

Dress Code

Please make sure your student is coming to school in dress code every day. Please review the middle school dress code with your student. We're seeing quite a few logos, unapproved colors, bottoms that are too short, and improper shoes. Thank you for your support at home!

K-8 Athletic Event Guidelines

Guidelines for K-8 students attending athletic events have been in place since last year and are posted in newsletters and on the Athletics website. These guidelines have been updated and will be enforced starting Monday, September 22nd. If your child(ren) in grades K-8 plan to attend events, please take time to review the guidelines and discuss them together.
