Parent/Guardian Teacher Conferences - April 13th

Parent/Guardian Teacher Conferences take place on Wednesday, April 13th from 4:30-7:00 PM. This year we are offering conferences both in person or virtual, using the Zoom App. Conferences are not mandatory in the spring. We are asking families to schedule conferences through our ParentVue system. Below is a link to a short instructional video which will walk parents through how to book parent/teacher conferences using ParentVue. Information is also provided on how to access the Zoom conference links. If you click on the email function in ParentVue, you will get an email of your scheduled links for one-stop conferencing. Note- Parents/guardians may be in a “waiting room” and admitted into the meeting at the scheduled time. If you feel that you will need additional time or would like to meet in person, please contact individual teachers.

DIMES FOR DIAPERS COUNTY-WIDE FUNDRAISER

This year, we are excited to take part in the Dimes for Diapers fundraising event during the month of April. Dimes for Diapers has a commitment to provide 1 million diapers a year to 20 non-profit agencies throughout Genesee County. We will begin our fundraiser on Monday, April 11th, and we will be collecting donations in any monetary form (i.e. change, bills or checks payable to Dimes for Diapers). The classroom that collects the most, (minimum $250), will receive a gift card to host a pizza party in their classroom. Also, the top three schools that raise the most money will be on TV (ABC 12 News) and will receive a trophy. West Shore, Torrey Hill, and our Preschool program are participating in this event, and each building will have its own winning classroom.

The food service department is happy to be able to provide all meals to all students for free this year! This is a government grant that allows us to do that. Along with the grant money there are guidelines we must follow. This grant allows for only one complete breakfast and lunch per student per school day.

A breakfast includes: 2 Grains or 1 grain and one protein item, 1 cup fruit/vegetable and Milk. To be a complete meal 3 out of the 4 items must be taken and one of the items must be a fruit or vegetable.

School Lunch is made up of 5 food groups. These groups are whole grain, protein foods, vegetables, fruit and milk. To be a complete meal, three out of five food groups must be taken and one must be a fruit or a vegetable.

Only one entrée is allowed for both meals. Students may purchase additional entrees or meal components at ala carte pricing.

Change In End Of Day Pick Up?

If your students need updates from you (parents/guardians) on taking a different mode of transportation home, please call our office before 2 PM. We do our best to get all "change in transportation" messages delivered to the students at the end of the school day and we certainly do not want any errors.

Any bus changes must be approved by the principal at least 24 hours in advance. Students are not allowed to take alternative buses home unless their is an emergency situation. Please do not use bus transportation as a means of transporting friends for after school social or extracurricular events. Our buses have capacity limits and we cannot add students to bus routes. We care about the safety of our students and therefore must closely monitor ridership on our school buses.

MEDICATION FORMS

If your child will need any type of medication for the school year you must have your doctor complete the forms below that pertain to your student. Any questions, please call the Torrey Hill office. 810-591-3617
