🏫 What’s Happening at School
A note from the Principal...
Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,
What a wonderful first week! I was so excited to meet everyone and begin building relationships with the Abraham Lincoln School community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or even fun stories—I’m always here to listen. I’m truly looking forward to working together to make this a successful and joyful year for every student and family.

Book Room Helpers Needed!
Our Book Room is fabulous, but it could use a little extra help! We’re looking for one or two volunteers who would be willing to come in from time to time to shelve books that teachers have used in their classrooms.
If you’re interested, please contact Meghan Schall at mschall@bangorschools.net. Your help would make a big difference for our teachers and students!
First PTO Meeting
Join us for our first PTO meeting on Wednesday, September 17 at 5:30 p.m.! This is a great chance to get trained as a volunteer and learn how you can be involved.
📍 After this first meeting, PTO will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. We’d love to see you there—your ideas and support make a big difference for our school community!

💡 Helpful Tips & Resources for Families
Attendance & On-Time Arrival Matter!
At Abraham Lincoln School, we know that showing up every day and on time makes a BIG difference in your child’s success.
✨ Why it’s important:
-
🧩 Consistency builds confidence – Kids feel more secure when they follow routines.
-
📖 Learning starts right away – Morning lessons set the tone for the whole day.
-
🤝 Friendships grow stronger – Being present helps children connect and feel included.
-
🌱 Good habits last a lifetime – Punctuality and attendance build responsibility.
Family Tip: Aim to arrive by 8:40 a.m. so your child is ready for a smooth start to the day. A few extra minutes in the morning can help everyone feel calmer and prepared!
What to Do If Your Child Is Sick
We want all of our students to feel their best so they can learn and grow each day! Here are a few quick reminders for when your child isn’t feeling well:
Keep your child home if they have:
-
🌡️ A fever of 100.4°F or higher (they should be fever-free for 24 hours without medicine before returning)
-
🤢 Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
-
😷 Persistent cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing
-
🦠 Contagious illnesses (like strep throat, pink eye, or flu)
What to do:
-
📞 Call the school office to let us know your child will be absent.
-
📝 Share the reason for the absence, especially if it’s a contagious illness.
-
💊 If your child needs medicine at school, please contact the nurse for the proper forms and procedures.
Healthy tip: Encourage lots of rest, fluids, and handwashing to help your child recover quickly!
