Homeroom
Last week we sent a brief introduction about advisement (Tuesday), and this week we are following up with information about homeroom (Thursday). Although these courses are very similar in that they provide our students the opportunity to receive academic support, homeroom provides a systemic structure to achieve a few other goals as well. Homeroom is and will be utilized in the following ways:
As a consistent time for schoolwide assemblies without loss of instructional time, grade-level programming focused on student needs at different grade levels, and seminar lessons aimed at holistic student growth through sustainable skills development. Seminar lessons are short, focused lessons created by a team of teachers to support student success. These lessons are graded, but designed to check for understanding and not to be overly rigorous. In the event of a student absence, these lessons and quizzes are available for completion by students from the Thursday they are assigned to the following Tuesday evening. When assemblies are not scheduled, students will have from 8:25 to 9:20 to visit teachers for makeup work or additional help.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support.
