November 2024 MTSS Leads DLD November 2024 MTSS Leads DLD

iReady is updating their platform to provide digital literacy tasks. Our next screening window is January 8-31, 2025 and we want to be ready. We will offer three sessions for MTSS Leads on the iReady Digital Literacy Tasks during the November 5th DLD. Please register for your desired session time using PLZ course #47387.

8:30-10:00

10:30-12:00

1:00-2:30

These November 5th sessions are for MTSS Leads only. iReady Literacy Tasks are used primarily in grades K-8, but there are additional screeners that are administered to screen for Characteristics of Dyslexia at the 9-12 grade band that are not a part of iReady. 9-12 is welcome to attend so they are familiar, but the additional screeners, which are not new, are not the focus of the 11/5/24 training. Additional opportunities will be available during November and December so that all can be trained.

MSCS Office Hours MSCS Office Hours

Each week since being offered at the beginning of October, I have offered MSCS Offfice Hours and many of you have taken me up on this type of support which is definitely more efficient for all of us. MSCS Office Hours are not intended to be full trainings. These are meant for MTSS Leads to ask troubleshooting questions and get responses more quickly.

Please complete the form linked below to request Office Hours Support. Support sessions will be scheduled with those who have common support requests. For example, I would not group aimswebPlus Progress Monitoring with the group who requested support with ILP-Ds.

Links to join will be sent out on Tuesday morning by 8:30 a.m. each week so submissions after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday will be addressed the next week.

iReady Pro iReady Pro

iReady Pro is currently available to secondary students 6-12 to provide foundational literacy supports for students who scored below the 25th percentile in literacy. The features in iReady have been updated to be more appealing to secondary students in grades 6-12. Please keep this in mind for students with Tier 2 and 3 Literacy Plans as a meaningful support. You can use goal setting sheets with students to help them improve more quickly.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

Shout out to PLC Coach Rica Davis at Grahamwood who coordinated a Parent Literacy Event this month where she promoted dyslexia awareness by providing simulation stations for participants and staff. Additionally, the school provided parent attendees with hands on manipulatives such as flash cards and sound phones to bridge what students are using at school to what they are doing at home.

I love hearing what is happening at schools! Please use the link below to share about how you promoted dyslexia awareness month at your school.
