Happy Friday!

I hope your summer has been filled with time outdoors, meaningful moments with family and friends, and opportunities to relax and recharge. With the new school year just around the corner, I’m excited to share our first newsletter of the 2026–2027 school year as we prepare to welcome our staff and students back to the building!

Our school has been a busy place throughout the summer. From Summer School, ESY, music programs, athletics, and several building improvement projects, there has been plenty happening behind the scenes. We’re grateful for the many opportunities we’ve been able to provide our students and especially thankful to the dedicated staff members who helped make them possible.

Next week, we will welcome the Class of 2030 and all new students for Orientation on Thursday, August 27th. Laptop pick-up and photos will begin at 2 pm and the orientation itself will begin at 3 pm. Students may be picked up at 6 pm following their pizza dinner.

And, our halls will once again be filled with the energy and enthusiasm of a new school year as the 2026-2027 school year officially begins on Wednesday, September 2nd!

Registration Forms: Registration forms are now available in MyPowerHub to complete. All students must have updated and complete registration forms each year. Once you are logged in to MyPowerHub, please follow the instructions to start your registration process.

Summer Reading Lists by Grade: We seek to develop a lifelong love of learning. Summer reading and assignments provide opportunities for our students to extend their learning beyond the school year, while ensuring that students continue to practice and apply their skills in preparation for their upcoming classes. At the link you may select your year of graduation tab (2030, 2029, 2028, or 2027) or Advanced Placement to find the assignments associated with your upcoming course(s).

Parking Passes: Distribution will occur on August 24 and 25th. Students have received emails with more detailed information, as well as the application.

Parent Council: Throughout the school year, WHS hosts monthly school council meetings. The meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning on Sept. 16th, from 3:30-4:30 pm in the WHS media center. This is a great opportunity for you to provide feedback and suggestions from a parent’s/guardian's perspective as we look to continually improve our practices. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please reach out to Shannan McKenna (smckenna@windhamsd.org) directly.
