Hello Primary Pups! Hello Primary Pups!

A Note from Mrs. Bagarozza (Mrs. B)

Hello Primary Pup Families,

I hope you all had a great break and got some time to spend with family and friends! I want to take a moment to share some personal news. I am currently expecting my second child, due in September 2025. Some of your children may have noticed, as a I have gotten a few comments about my growing "belly" so I figured it was time to share with the community! As you all know, it's quite hard to hide anything from an observant preschooler! I will be here for the remainder of this school year, take my maternity leave in Fall 2025 and return at some point next school year. I will share more information about who will be supporting WPS in my absence when it is available.

Prior to the break we had all 4 elementary principals visit our PM students and read to them at WPS. It was a wonderful experience! Check out some of the pictures below. We have our 3rd annual transition trip this Thursday, April 24th for our students in the 4 yr old PM program. We are looking forward to a great trip checking out our students' future elementary schools!

Right before the break we also had our spring bonnet parade. I am sorry that the weather did not cooperate, but be sure to check out the pictures and the video links shared below to see how great everyone looked in their festive bonnets!

Yesterday, our PM students celebrated Earth Day with students from WHS. Big thanks to Mr. Tennant from WHS and Ms. Katelyn our student teacher in Rm 3 for coordinating a wonderful event. Check out the pictures and video shared below!

Our Spring Fling is back again this year and better than ever. The event details were sent home prior to break. A copy of the page is shared below as well. This dance will be sponsored by the WPS PTA. It is free of charge but they will be accepting donations for the PTA at the door. There will be a DJ and a few activities. It will run from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at Wall Intermediate School cafe. An ice cream truck will join us at 6:30 pm and 20% of the proceeds will go back to the WPS PTA. We hope to see many of you there!

Earth Day! 4.22.25

WHS's Environmental Club teamed up with WPS to teach our Primary Pups how to plant and care for flowers! After caring for their plants and watching them grow, they planted them to create a beautiful school entrance. It was a fun and educational day of hands-on learning, Earth Day-themed books, and valuable life lessons!

Big thanks to Barlow's for the flower donation!

Building Communication Skills with AAC!

Our Primary Pups explored an AAC device with our speech therapists! During storytime, students used the AAC device to describe animals, building their communication skills in a fun and interactive way. AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices support those who have difficulty with verbal communication.

Yoga

How to do cat and cow pose for kids:

  1. Come to all fours on your hands and knees.
  2. As you inhale, lift your chest and tailbone toward the ceiling.
  3. Let your belly relax towards your mat.
  4. Raise your head up. Press down into your knees and hands so you feel strong and supported. Optional, hold the pose and say, ‘moo!’
  5. Now round your back, tuck your chin, tail bone down toward the floor and push out all your breath. Optional, hold the pose and say "meow"
  6. Repeat to warm up and the spine and feel energy flowing through your body!
  7. Bonus flow: look back at your cat and cow "tails", looking back at your feet from side to side, to stretch out the sides of the body.

Benefits of cat and cow pose

  • Maintain or improve spinal range of motion

  • Good for balance.

  • Helps with digestion and can assist in producing bowel movements.

  • Helps coordinate breath with movement. Hint, inhale into cow and exhale out of cat.

How to do down dog for kids:

  1. From your hands and knees, spread your fingers out and press your hands down into the floor at shoulder width apart.

  2. Curl your toes under and lift your tail up and back (rather than press).

  3. Bend your knees a little bit and tilt your tail up and back. If your legs feel tight, take turns bending one knee while sending the heel of the other foot toward the floor and then switch to the other side. “Walking the dog”.

  4. To turn up the fun, lift one leg at a time to the ceiling to stretch your hips and legs or wag your doggie tail.

  5. To come out of it, rest your knees down, press your hips back toward your feet and rest in child’s yoga pose.

Benefits of down dog for kids:

  • Relieves stress

  • Stretches the shoulders, hamstrings, calves, arches, and hands.

  • Strengthens arms, legs, and back.

  • Supports healthy digestion

  • A great way to de-stimulate

  • A non-punitive time out or break from the day

  • Provides an opportunity to be playful or calm

How to do child’s pose for kids: Kneel on the floor, sit back on the heels, and then stretch the arms forward while resting the forehead on the ground.

Benefits of child's pose for kids: This pose yoga is a gentle way for kids to rest and relax. It provides a moment of calm and helps them understand the concept of mindfulness in yoga.
