HOLIDAY CONCERT (GRADES 2/3)
Hello Hamilton families!
The concert will take place on Friday, December 5 at the Elyria High School Performing Arts Center. The concert begins at 6:00pm, but performing students should arrive at 5:30pm to check in with their teacher and be placed onstage. Students who are walking to and/or home from the PAC should be accompanied by an adult.
All 2nd and 3rd grade students will participate in the concert. Performers’ attire should be nice, but does not have to be too fancy (think school picture day). Since this is the holiday concert, students are also welcome to wear holiday attire as long as it follows the school dress code.
Your students have been working hard on learning their songs, and we can’t wait to show you the product of all their hard work. We hope you’ll join us on December 5th!
FUNDRAISER ORDER PICK UP
Fundraiser orders will arrive on Wednesday, 12/10/25. Orders may be picked up by parents from 3:00pm -4:00pm.
Students who earned various prizes and rewards will be receiving those periodically over the next couple weeks. Special rewards (McDonald's lunch, DQ Blizzard, Etc.) will take place during the school day. Student who earned the bull prizes will receive those with their product orders.
Thank you for supporting Hamilton!
HAMILTON ANNUAL PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Please join us for our Annual Pancake Breakfast (sponsored by Hamilton PTO) with your students on December 18, 2025.
Doors open at 8:00am and the event completes at 9:10am.
All families enter through the main entrance.
This event is FREE for all families. There will be no RSVP system this year and pancakes will be first come, first served, until they are gone.
FROM THE OFFICE
Return to School Updates
We still have some families that have not yet completed this years Return to School Updates. If you have not yet done so, please contact the main office. We have Chromebooks to use, to complete the required forms, and most are able to complete it in a matter of minutes. This can not be completed on a phone so please notify the main office if you need support.
Dismissal Reminders
Hamilton understands there may be changes to a student's dismissal instructions. Any changes in dismissal instructions may be given to a student by calling the office by 2:30pm. Hamilton can not guarantee that messages received after 2:30pm will reach the student in time for dismissal. Please contact the main office at (440) 284-8007.
CLASSROOM TREATS AND PARTIES
We have students who have allergies (some severe) that may develop a reaction, as a result of certain foods being permitted and passed out during special occasions such as birthdays, classroom parties, rewards, etc. This is something the kids love and should be able to enjoy.
However, to keep all students safe, It's imperative that all foods brought from the outside are store bought (not homemade) and have nutrition information on them to check ingredients. If the ingredients aren't available, they may not be distributed.
We have students with all kinds of allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, gluten, etc.). We also have students with medical conditions who can't eat certain foods as well.
Ideally parents should notify the school/teacher at least 24 hours prior to when they bring in treats so that the teacher can check for allergies.
Non-food treats are encouraged, such as stickers, pencils, glow sticks, bracelets and other kid-friendly items.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION
NOTES FROM THE NURSE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we enter colder months, we often see an increase in illnesses such as colds, flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and even pneumonia. To help keep our school community healthy, I want to provide some important information about prevention and guidelines for keeping your child home from school when they are ill.
Prevention Tips
Hand Washing: Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after coughing, sneezing, using the restroom, and before eating.
Cover Coughs and Sneezes: Teach children to use a tissue or their elbow to cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of tissues immediately and wash hands afterward.
Vaccinations: Ensure your child is up-to-date on their flu vaccine and any other vaccinations. Vaccination is a key tool in preventing severe illness.
Healthy Habits: Promote good nutrition, adequate sleep, and regular exercise to strengthen your child's immune system.
Disinfect Surfaces: Regularly clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces at home such as doorknobs, toys, and electronic devices.
When to keep your Child Home
Fever of 100.4 degrees or higher (child should be fever free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.)
Persistent cough or difficulty breathing.
Vomiting or diarrhea (child should remain at home for 24 hours after the last episode).
Sore throat- especially with a fever or swollen glands
Rash of unknown origin
Severe fatigue or muscle aches that prevent participation in normal activities.
Eye(s) that appear pink, red, draining, or discharge in one or both eyes that form a crust during the night that may prevent your eye or eyes from opening in the morning.
RSV and Pneumonia Awareness
RSV and pneumonia can be particularly severe for young children and those with underlying health conditions. Symptoms of RSV may include a runny nose, decreased appetite, coughing, sneezing, fever, and wheezing. Pneumonia may be present with fever, chills, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. If you notice any concerning symptoms, please consult your child’s healthcare provider promptly.
By working together, we can help ensure that our students, staff, and families remain as healthy as possible this season. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic for further information.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community safe and healthy.
In good health,
Tiffany Lymer

HAMILTON POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTEVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS (PBIS)
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This is a statewide initiative to help grow positive behaviors and a positive school climate. Here is an overview of Hamilton's PBIS System. We are proud to announce that Hamilton earned Silver recognition in our PBIS efforts! We want to thank you for your part in building a positive school culture. You are such a big part of the success of a child. We also want to share with you further information on Hamilton's PBIS processes and resources. If you are willing and have the time, we would love your PBIS feedback in the Self-Assessment Survey. If you feel your child needs additional behavior supports, you may fill out this form to Request for Assistance in PBIS. Thank you again for your part in the success of our young pioneers.
Be sure to review the "3 B's" with your child. These are discussed each and every day.
BE RESPECTFUL
BE RESPONSIBLE
BE READY TO LEARN
At Hamilton, we believe in teaching students to be confident young people. Every morning, we start the day by reciting the Hamilton Affirmation which states:
I am SOMEBODY
I and CAPABLE and LOVEABLE
I am TEACHABLE
Therefore, I can LEARN
I will not waste TIME
Because, it is too VALUABLE
And I am too PRECIOUS and BRIGHT
I am SOMEBODY
Please practice the affirmation with your child and review what it means. I am also looking for students who can proudly recite the affirmation during the morning announcements.
