WEEKLY HAWK
March 23-27, 2026
Message from Mrs. Lloyd
Hello Homestead Families,
I hope students had a restful and rejuvenating Spring Break! We are so excited to welcome everyone back and move into the final stretch of the 25-26 school year. Staff have lots of learning, experiences, and celebrations lined up for students over the next couple of months.
Before we left for break, we celebrated Cherry Creek Reads week! We invited mystery readers in from Cherry Creek High School - many of whom were Homestead alum! Additionally, on Friday we celebrated with 60 minutes of school wide reading. Buddy classrooms met on the front lawn and read together while enjoying the great weather. As you can see in the pictures, reading together was a success and our Lights Out spirit day organized by Student Council was a fun way to unify as a school - turns out we love dressing in all black!
Under the direction of Ms. Schlatter, we also had a wonderful performance by our hard working 2nd graders! They performed Disney songs for the school and for an evening performance. Great work second grade!!
Below, you will find some new club offerings, information about our 3-5 author visit in April, and an invite to Coffee with the Principal.
Get a good night's sleep and see you all tomorrow!
Take care,
Katie

CCSD Elementary Art Show
Congratulations to the following students whose art is on display at the CCSD Elementary Art Show! The show is up at Koelbel Library in Centennial March 6-28th. A reception will be held on March 28 from 1-3pm. Students will get to take their work home after this event.
5th Grade: Gray S., Emme H., and Owen M.
4th Grade: Mac L., McKenna M., and Hugo H.
3rd Grade: Even D., Josie F., Charlotte M.
2nd Grade: Sylvie H.
1st Grade: Shep K.
K: Wyatt S.
Keep and eye out for more celebrations in April at the CCSD West Art Show!
A note about 3-D artwork display and selections for district art shows:
It is that time of year when many students are working in three dimensions. Display space is significantly limited, which means not every student’s 3-D artwork will be shown. In addition, we are celebrating some students who have work in the district art show. Your child might feel disappointed if their work is not on display. This is an opportunity to help your child learn how to process disappointment. Your child is a wonderful artist and perhaps their artwork will be selected in the future.

ATTENTION: All Volunteers at Homestead
Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.
If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. To access the form, click on the following link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NzU0OmVuLVVT or scan the QR code. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.
Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. Every person entering our buildings must have a badge printed from our Raptor system or a District ID.
We want to thank you in advance for your support of our schools and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Homestead main office at 720.554.3700.
