This Year's Fair Is Getting Closer!
The 2026 edition of the Ohio State Fair is only weeks away!! We cannot wait to get to the fairgrounds and get started doing the great work to support this year's Band and Fair!
That process begins on July 19 when we host the annual AOSFB Cleaning & Prep Day: All are welcome from 12:00-4:00 PM as we reconnect with alumni, staff, and friends while helping prepare the dorms for the Band's move in day. Alums, families, and friend are welcome to take part, and lunch is provided. Follow this link to sign up: https://forms.gle/Mi46LZoU1Zi5eMxD8
More hands make for shorter work and more fun with Band friends!
The Ohio State Fair Concert Series is set and besides hearing the AOSFB perform, there are many great acts performing in the Celeste Center. Personally, I would love to see Alison Kraus and Union Station, or Weird Al Yankovic! What fun that would be!
I wonder what new foods will be there? There is always something new "fried on a stick" or similar fair food to try!
There are currently many new buildings being constructed. The fairgrounds will be different for sure!
I can't wait!
Information On The Upcoming AOSFB
AOSFB Alumni Association Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Alumni Association will take place on Saturday, August 1 from 9:00-10:00 am in the Rhodes Center. The exact location will be shared that morning. All members are invited to attend.
The Executive Committee, under the leadership of Alumni Association President Anothony Jacobs, shared last year that they were undertaking several actions to refocus the Association, review processes, update the Constitution, and increase involvement. This meeting will include organizational updates, a vote on several constitutional changes needed to align the document with current practices, and will be a good way to kick off the day.
Some of you may have seen information regarding the elimination of annual dues. This will not occur unless the membership votes in favor of the motion and the corresponding constitutional change during the meeting.
Please let us know of any questions ahead of the meeting via email at ALUMNI@aosfb.com.

If you see the pig races, my personal tip is to pick the pig with an all pink nose and snout! They are fast!
Alumni Spotlight
Featured Alumni: Cadence Tighe
Our featured AOSFB alumni is Cadence Tighe. Cady was in the Band in 2022 and 2023. Cady enjoyed her time in the band and has many great memories. She says that "the AOSFB improved not only my music skills, but my skills as a person. I learned a lot about myself and others. I found a place where I truly believed that I belonged."
Cady's memories from being in the Band were the friendships that she made. Cady states, "The people, no matter where you were from, you could always meet someone new or someone you have something in common with. I made a lot of friends that I’m still in contact with." She goes on to say about a fun event she remembers, "Paul Blart Mall Cop Night - I enjoyed hanging out in the yard with the other kids in Band. I will always remember sitting and eating with my friends in the band.
After Cady graduated from high school, she continued her education at Youngstown State University. She recently got her first nursing related job as a nursing assistant at University Hospitals. She shared, "I have been in college for the last few years and am graduating this spring. I continued my musical career in a college marching band as well as a concert band."
