Trailblazer Families,

Attendance is a critical building block for student learning. If students are not present, they cannot engage in learning. Attendance is a powerful signal and leading indicator of equity. It can signal when students might need additional support and areas for system and school improvement. Chronic absenteeism impacts all students—no matter their age. Students that miss just two days a month for any reason are more likely to not read at grade level, and more likely to not graduate.

We need our students at school so they are not missing out on critical core instruction. If you need support or ideas on how to get your student(s) to school and here on time, please reach out. We value our partnership with families and are here if you need us.

We ask you use our Parent Arrival/Dismissal procedure that we shared at the start of the year and in the past 2 issues of THE Trail Guide. We are unable to supervise students before the times listed below. Please DO NOT drop your student off in the parent lane or in the parking lot and leave before the "rooster" bell rings. The safety of your student is our top priority!!

Monday-Students can be on campus starting at 10:20

Tuesday-Friday-Students can be on campus starting at 8:45

Kindergarten Registration is open!

SBA testing for 3rd-5th grades will be May 15th-26th-It is highly recommended that you DO NOT plan appointments or vacation for your student at this time!

The all-district STEM Fair and Art Show is this Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sumner Middle School! There will be food trucks, community exhibits and hands-on activities for all ages! Admission is free. Learn more about the event at sumnersd.org/STEMFair. Trailblazer art will be featured in the Art Show!

Calling all future Trailblazers! Kindergarten enrollment for the 2023-24 school year begins

Feb. 7th. Our online enrollment process allows you to complete the process from anywhere at any time.

Immunizations

Washington state's school immunization law requires documentation of immunization at the time of school registration. A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS), signed by the parent/guardian, must be on file at the school on or before the student's first day of school. Learn more about immunizations.

Thanks for a great THE Kindness Campaign and Raise Craze PTA fundraiser! We logged a total of 4,806 Acts of Kindness amongst 323 registered students, met our PTA fundraising goal and had lots of fun along the way! We'll have our finale assembly this Friday, with sliming help from students from each grade with the most Acts of Kindness and highest fundraising totals. Individual prizes will be distributed mid-March. Direct any questions to fundraising@tehalehheightspta.org
