Delaney School Monthly Newsletter
October 2026 Issue
Successful Start!
Dear Delaney School Families,
We have had a terrific start to the 2026-2027 school year. Thank you all for your cooperation in helping to make the start to our year safe and successful.
Students and teachers have settled into their daily routines, and the classes are invested in learning. We are all respectful, responsible, and ready to learn each and every day in the Delaney School.
The Delaney staff members were happy to see so many of you at Curriculum Night last month. Thank you for taking the time to meet the teachers and learn about curriculum expectations for your children. Children do best when parents and teachers work collaboratively to support them in their academic journey. If you were unable to attend, please be sure to follow up with your child’s classroom teacher.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this month's Delaney School Newsletter. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss Kathleen Maloney

Delaney Parking Lot Reminders for Arrival & Dismissal
Please see the important safety information regarding the arrival and dismissal procedures at the Delaney School.
Arrival:
Students may arrive at the drop-off locations at Delaney School and Janelli Annex from 8:10 to 8:20.
All locations are supervised by staff members starting at 8:10.
Students in grades 2 and 3 should be dropped off at the Janelli Annex entrance.
Students in kindergarten and grade 1 should be dropped off at the main entrance.
Families with students in both kindergarten or grade 1 through grade 3 will drop-off their students at the Delaney School cafeteria. This will prevent families from having to make two stops.
Students who arrive after 8:20 need to enter through the office doors and will be marked tardy.
Please make every effort to have your child at school on time. Even arriving a few minutes late can impact a student's school day negatively.
Dismissal:
Please do not arrive until 2:30 for dismissal. Arriving too early impacts our ability to safely and efficiently dismiss our preschool students at their 2:15 dismissal time.
Cell phones should not be used while in the parking lot.
Window placards for afternoon dismissal can be requested by emailing Mrs. Goddard at goddardj@wrenthamschools.org or Mrs. Kizik at kizikj@wrenthamschools.org.
Parents/guardians must remain in their vehicles at all times. Students will be sent to cars by the school staff.
All students must enter and exit vehicles through the driver’s side of the vehicle.
If your child needs assistance with his/her seatbelt, this would be a great time to help them practice and build their independence. Parents may pull forward to the visitor spots if necessary in order to help students with seatbelts. Please contact me directly if you have any questions at maloneyk@wrenthamschools.org.
Please share this information with grandparents and other caregivers.
Counselors' Corner~Social Emotional Learning
Students in Pre-K through Grade 3 will be learning about how we can create “healthy neuron connections” in our brains!
Understanding the science of our brain and body has been a foundational part of our learning…both academically and socially-emotionally. When children understand their emotional health through science, it can feel less personal and more empowering. Instead of thinking, “Something is wrong with me,” students can begin to understand, “My brain and body are learning, growing, and creating connections!”
We will use the angler fish as our example, exploring how it creates its own light in the darkness. In the same way, we can learn strategies that help us create our own “light” when we experience uncomfortable feelings, challenging moments, or times when things feel difficult.
To help make this connection tangible, each classroom will have its own special “light,” as a reminder that we all have the ability to create light… even during difficult moments.
Through this lesson, students will explore how their thoughts, feelings, choices, and actions can help strengthen healthy connections in their brains. Our goal is to give children a simple, positive way to understand themselves and recognize that every experience is an opportunity for their brains to learn and grow. (Social-Emotional Learning)
We have been spending time with many of our Delaney students at lunch and recess. We will be starting our lessons with Kindergarten the week of 10/12 and First grade will begin the week of 10/19. We are looking forward to getting started. We will be teaching SEL Lessons to our K and 1 students every other week until the end of May. We also aim to teach monthly in grades 2 and 3!
