Head of School Update
April 1, 2026 : Issue #32
🛑🚗Student Drop Off Procedures Reminder🚗🛑
Please be reminded that students should only be dropped off behind the STEM Academy Students should not be dropped off at the Manor Ave entrance as this interferes with traffic flow and causes additional cars to be stopped on Manor Ave.
We ask that you please leave earlier to arrive to school on time. We are currently working with our bus companies to assist as well so that our buses arrive at the scheduled time. Thank you for your cooperation.
As a reminder, students that do not have a parking permit are not permitted to park.
From the Office of Art Campbell, Head of School
Mr. Art Campbell, Head of School
Ms. Kelly Stauffer, Admin. Asst. to the Head of School
Spring recess begins next tomorrow, April 2 and ends Monday, April 6. We hope everyone enjoys their time off before the last marking period of the 2025-2026 school year gets under way. We will see everyone on Tuesday, April 7!
Parking Permits: There are many students that applied for a parking permit earlier this year, that have also paid for the permit but have not yet picked up. Our main office staff have reached out to students and families to have those permits picked up. Student drivers should continue to apply for a parking permit, but should know that we are now in a waitlist position for availability of parking permits. If someone has applied for and paid for a parking permit but has not picked up and no longer needs it, they should come see Ms. Sokso or Ms. Stauffer in the main office. This would free up parking permits to those that have been waitlisted. Please be reminded that if you receive a ticket, you should come to the main office.
Please be mindful of allowing enough travel time to arrive to school on time daily. School begins promptly at 8:00 am. To help alleviate the traffic entering Campbell Drive in the morning, Mr. Campbell has been standing at door 3-2 at the Student Commons to assist with getting students into the building when the traffic line is stopped. If you see him standing there, your student can enter through that door. Please be mindful of the traffic as we are doing our very best to get everyone into the building on time and safely.

Senior CAS/Graduation Project Spotlight: Joe Lin, Ameya Bhalerao, and STEM graduate Ryan Smith created an original full 40-question quizbowl packet based around present-day creations and research. The difference is in the topics and difficulty of the packet, focused on people and works that are generally unknown by the public and the quizbowl community, such as scientists doing active research or contemporary artists. However, the answers to the questions are accessible in order to bring light to these people and work through the actual content of the question. Their intended audience is those in the quizbowl community, as they can call attention to these topics in an interesting way for people that have a drive to learn about them. Class of 2026 [Seniors]: IB Exams begin April 28, 2026! This whole month is for intense exam preparation in all IB classes. No new material, just review to be sure that the students have the concepts and formats fresh in their minds. Class of 2027 [Juniors]: CAS/Grad Project: Juniors continue to enter experiences into ManageBac, and are emailing CAS Project Proposals to Mrs. Sherlock. You will receive an email reply that tells you whether your project proposal has been approved or if more information is needed. Remember to get your project approved before you enter it into ManageBac. EE: Students should all have a working RQ in ManageBac by today! From here, students can begin focusing their research on more specific information, and begin building a source list. As the Seniors can attest, make sure that you have selected a topic that actually interests you! It makes the EE a much more enjoyable experience!

Class of 2026 Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Financial Reality Fair
On Thursday, April 16th all Downingtown STEM Academy Seniors will be participating in Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union's Financial Literacy Reality Fair.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to apply the budgeting skills necessary for success in life. Students will be provided with a real-life scenario including their monthly salary, credit score, family size and other details. The students then navigate stations to determine their monthly allocation for expenses such as housing, transportation, health insurance, utilities, and more. Likely, students will then need to make adjustments as they understand they can't have all of the things they'd want, and trade-offs must be made.
We have obtained enough volunteers for this event and we are looking forward to an amazing Reality Fair. Thank you in advance for your help in making it a success.
Coming soon...your summer practicum assignments will be shared in the near future.

Parents are not permitted to park, drop-off, or pick-up students from the left side of the Academy or on Manor Avenue.

This is extremely important for student safety and accountability. If there are any questions, please reach out to Ms. Mikulich.

Therefore, it is critical for students to arrive on time whether they are riding with a family member, friend, or driving themselves to school. The school day begins promptly at 8:00 am. Students are expected to be in their classroom by 8:00 am each morning in order to maximize their experience with us. We will be lenient the first week but students driving or obtaining a ride are expected to be to school on time. If students ride the bus and their bus arrives late, they will not be marked late due to a late arrival of the bus.
Traffic: Please review the student pick up and drop off procedures located under School Day on our Website. Please allow enough time for traveling to school in the morning.
