Dear MES Families--

This is a truly special week at Marysville Elementary as we celebrate and honor our incredible teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. I know every school proudly supports their staff—but I may be a bit biased when I say we have the absolute best of the best. This team consistently rallies around our students and one another, and they care deeply about this community. That speaks volumes. Our teachers love big, give their all, and pour their hearts into providing the very best education for our children each and every day.

If you have a moment this week, I encourage you to drop a quick note, email, or message to a teacher. A few kind words of appreciation can go a long way and truly brighten their day.

We also want to give a special shoutout to our amazing school nurse, Eireson Pralle, as we celebrate School Nurse Day on Wednesday, May 6th. We are so thankful for the care, compassion, and support she provides to our students and staff every day.

It’s also a busy and exciting week at MES! On Monday, we welcome staff from the Marysville Public Library as they help us kick off the summer reading program—an event our students always look forward to. On Wednesday, our K–4 students will head to the high school for the annual Celebrate America activities. Thursday brings a fun-filled field trip for our 5th graders to Sycamore Springs near Sabetha, and we wrap up the week on Friday with our 3rd–6th grade track meet.

While there are many exciting events happening, please know that learning remains a top priority. Our teachers continue to make the most of every instructional minute as we approach the end of the school year.

Thank you to our parents, students, and the entire Marysville community for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our school. We are truly grateful to be part of such a caring and dedicated community.

With gratitude,

Janine Doebele

MES Principal

🧃 The Juice Box Brief: Parent Superpowers!

This week, we sat down with our favorite tiny thinkers to ask a big question: "What is something your parents are really good at?" The responses were as diverse and impressive as our classroom itself! From the practical to the athletic, it’s clear you are all superheroes in their eyes. Our students proudly bragged about your skills in sewing, watering plants, and taking care of animals, while others were in awe of your strength during tree chopping or your agility performing cartwheels. We also heard quite a bit about your expertise in the driveway, specifically when it comes to fixing dents or loading new things into the back of the truck. Whether you are cleaning the house or keeping the garden green, your little ones are watching—and they are your biggest fans!

🚸❗ MES Parking & Drop-Off Safety Notice 🚸❗ 🚸❗ MES Parking & Drop-Off Safety Notice 🚸❗

To help keep all students and families safe during preschool drop-off and pick-up—and during our regular daily drop-off times—please review the following important parking reminders:

🚫 Do Not Park in Front of the Gate at 10th & Carolina
This area must remain clear at all times. Parking in front of the gate blocks the crosswalk where many students and families need to safely cross before and after school or during drop-off.

Bus Lane Reminders
If you plan to exit your vehicle to walk your child to the building or conduct business in the office, please do NOT park in the bus lane in front of the school.
We must keep this lane open for:

  • Morning and afternoon bus traffic

  • Mid-day transportation bringing students to and from MES

Where You Can Park
For your convenience, parking is available:

  • In the stalls along Carolina Street

  • Along the south side of the concrete wall (parallel parking)

Gate Opening
The gates on 10th Street will be unlocked no later than 3:10 PM daily to allow students to safely cross from the playground and white top area.

ONE WAY on Alston Street

The one way on Alston Street going east from 10th Street to 11th Street was passed and signs are UP. PLEASE be prepared for this change for the traffic to flow in one direction Alston Street (behind the school building) when we return from break on Tuesday, January 6th.

Safety First
Our top priority is the safety of children and families during the busiest times of the day. Improper or illegal parking—such as blocking crosswalks or parking in the bus lane—may result in tickets or penalties issued by the Marysville Police Department.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our MES community safe, respectful, and responsible during arrival and dismissal!

25/26 MES Parent Handbook

25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK 25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK

Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.

We ask that families review the handbook occasionally so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.

Courage

We follow the three R's in our building.

Be Ready

Be Responsible

Be Respectful

AND Be Safe

Character Strong – Courage (Week 4)

This week, we are going to talk about using Courage to choose what is Kind. Kindness is an important skill to build and it isn’t always easy. Sometimes being Kind to someone else can be the more difficult choice. This is because Kindness can be used to help others and helping others sometimes means giving your time, your energy, or your bravery. We use Courage to practice Kindness even when we do not necessarily feel like being kind.

Marysville Community Events Marysville Community Events

Our community offers many opportunities for families to connect and engage throughout the year. From local events to school activities, there are a variety of ways to stay involved and build strong connections. We encourage families to keep an eye on school updates, newsletters, and community announcements so you don’t miss out on the many events that bring us together.
